About 2-3 months before the start of the semester, ESCP Europe’s student affairs office will email you regarding your portal ID, admission letter, and class registration information.

As for the class registration, you will be given a PDF with the list of classes you can take. You can start planning out what you want to register for. On the day of class registration, simply follow the instructions that are given to you. It shouldn’t be difficult at all.

Keep in mind that there is no guarantee that the class you registered for is what you’ll get. Most of the time, it’s pretty random as to what class you will be accepted into. You are also allowed to add or drop a class before the first day of class.

ESCP Europe does not provide a dorm or campus residences. While they do provide a housing platform where you will find many empty houses, most of them only look for long-term tenants (at least 1 year).

As for me, I found my house in FranceZone, an online community for Koreans who live in France, approximately two weeks before I left Korea. The rent was 750 euros, which is just about the average price you have to expect to pay in Paris.

Looking for affordable housing in Paris is definitely not easy. My recommendation is already look for private student accommodation dorms as soon as you get accepted to the school of your choice internally in Korea University. You can also look for AirBnBs early on, there should be cheap rooms at around 500-600 euros if you’re lucky.

1) KUBS BUDDY

ESCP Europe’s version of KUBA is called Shuffle. In the semester I attended, Shuffle started becoming active in arranging many activities for exchange students. As for me, I got to meet a local student through Shuffle who also introduced me to her other friends. This helped me build a network of local students in ESCP Europe.

Also, don’t be shy to approach other exchange students from other countries. Many of them are extremely friendly and eager to meet new people as well. I also highly recommend not sticking to Korean friends only since you can always do that in Korea!

ESCP Europe Alumni frequently visit the school to give lectures. I took a class called CEO Studio where CEOs of companies came to class every week to give a lecture. Most speakers were graduates from ESCP Europe.

Paris is not a cheap country. If you plan on eating out, I would say the price would be, on average 12-15 euros. You can also cook at home, but I wouldn’t say that is significantly cheaper either. Aside from housing, food costs were the highest for my living expenses.

Transportation is easy, but you’ll have to get a Navigo pass which you’ll have to renew every month for 75 euros. It’s not cheap, but you will be able to go anywhere in Paris (until zone 5) with that.

Aside from that, other costs will depend according to what you prioritize. Whether it be shopping or traveling, extra costs are what you should consider when applying to ESCP Europe.

There were no scholarships provided by ESCP Europe. However, you could apply for other sponsorships, such as KUBS Airfare scholarship and other external scholarships you can search on Naver (there is an extensive amount of information online!) While a semester abroad is not cheap, you can minimize the overall costs through looking for scholarships!

As for the visa, always remember to be patient and that it will all work out eventually. It could get really stressful, but it’ll be fine!

ESCP Europe will give you your admission letter about a month or two before the start of school. As soon as you get it, apply for the visa. Make sure you have all the other necessary documents ready so that you can apply as soon as you get the admission letter. The overall process and specifics are thoroughly explained in blogs on Naver so don’t forget to check them out!

Things to note
you’ll be asked for your desired visa starting date. As for me, I got the exact date I wrote for this column, but my other friends had a different case.
Usually the given Visa period is = number of months in one semester + 1 free month. Hence, all ESCP Europe students who left from Korea got 5 months of visa validity.
While you can extend your visa while you are in Paris, you need to have a valid reason.

ESCP Europe is the oldest business school and the 3rd best business school in France. Among the top three best French business schools, it is the only one that is located inside Paris, which is a big bonus.

As ESCP has campuses all throughout Europe with a policy that students must rotate schools, ESCP Europe boasts a very diverse student body.

Keep in mind that while you’ll be joining the masters program at ESCP Europe, many of the elective courses are not academically challenging. The benefit to this is that you can focus on other things, such as traveling or learning French. Also, take advantage of the French classes provided by the school. There are weekly group classes and 1on1 tutoring sessions.

You can also sign up for the sports classes. For 80 euros, you can access any of the sports classes of your choice (up to 3 sports) for the entire semester. It is also a great way to meet other local students.
