    Hyun Seok (“Huck”) Lee [이현석] is a KUBS Research Fellow, Associate Professor of Logistics, Service and Operations Management (LSOM), and Area Chair of LSOM at Korea University Business School (KUBS).

    His research focuses on empirical operations and supply chain management, with particular interests in healthcare and pharmaceutical supply chains, retail and service operations, platform operations, people-centric operations, and causal inference using field and quasi-experimental methods. More specifically, his work examines topics such as drug shortages and disruption recovery, capacity and demand matching, retail labor and product variety, technology-enabled service operations, incentives, and labor scheduling.

    His research has been published in leading journals, including Management Science, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Journal of Operations Management, and Production and Operations Management. His scholarly contributions have been recognized with several awards, including the 2026 SK Distinguished Research Award, the 2025 M&SOM Meritorious Service Award, the 2023 Young Scholar Prize, the 2022 MK Emerging Scholar Paper Award, the 2022 Seok-Top Award for Research Excellence, the 2022 UTD Distinguished Research Award, the 2021 SK Distinguished Research Award, the 2020 Prominent Scholar Award, the 2018 DSI Conference Best Interdisciplinary Paper Award, the 2016 Rising OM Scholar Award, and the M. Wayne DeLozier Award.

    His excellence in teaching has also been recognized with multiple teaching awards, including the Seok-Top Award for Teaching Excellence, the Excellence in Teaching Award at Korea University Business School, and the Betty and Forrest Simmons Excellence in Graduate Teaching Award at Oregon State University.

    He teaches undergraduate, master’s, PhD, MBA, and MSBA students in courses such as Business Statistics, Operations Management, Service Operations Management, Empirical Research in Operations Management, Special Topics in Operations Management, Operations Analytics, and Empirical Approaches for Business Analytics.

    He received his Ph.D. in Operations from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and his M.S. and B.B.A. from Korea University Business School. Before joining Korea University, he was an Assistant Professor of Supply Chain and Logistics Management at the College of Business, Oregon State University. He was also a Visiting Associate Professor at the Rady School of Management, University of California San Diego.
