‘KUBS 120 MARCH’ Campaign Nears 40% of Goal … Total Pledges Reach Approx. KRW 4.6 Billion Three major large-scale pledges secured within four months of launch … Campaign continues through May 31     Korea University Business School’s KRW 12 billion fundraising campaign, “KUBS 120 MARCH,” has secured approximately KRW 4.6 billion in pledged donations within just four months of its launch, nearing 40% of its goal.   Since the campaign’s launch in January, when pledged donations stood at around KRW 2 billion, the total has more than doubled in just three months. From December 1, 2025, to March 29, 2026, total pledges reached KRW 4,652,317,231, with 324 participants, including corporations, alumni, faculty, staff, and students.       | Three major pledges secured … Alumni and corporations join forces    One of the most notable achievements is the securing of three major pledges. An anonymous donor pledged support for the research fund, Eugene Investment & Securities Co., Ltd. for the development fund, and Samyang Tongsang for scholarships. Alumni account for approximately 62% of total pledges, while corporations represent about 35%, jointly driving the campaign forward.   Group donations have also continued. Following the participation of the Class of ’81 alumni association, the Business School Class of ’79 Scholarship Committee (28 members), the KUBS Class of ’98 Alumni Night (126 participants), as well as faculty and staff, have also joined the campaign.     | Expanding participation across classes, generations, and professions    The donor base is highly diverse. Participation spans from alumni who entered in the 1970s to current students from the Class of ’26, as well as members of EMBA, DBA, and AMP programs, undergraduate alumni, and even alumni from the College of Medicine. From individual research labs and faculty bands to student councils, all corners of the Business School are actively engaging with the campaign, further broadening its base of participation.   This campaign is particularly meaningful in that it places value not only on the total amount raised but also on participation itself. From small contributions starting at KRW 10,000 to major gifts reaching KRW 1 billion, every act of giving becomes part of the shared legacy of KUBS’s 120-year history.    | Investing in the future campus… Advancing the 3C Trading Zone and 4Tech strategy    The funds raised are being used to realize the Business School’s future vision. Alongside the advancement of the “4Tech Strategy,” centered on AI, semiconductors, energy, and robotics, spatial innovation projects are also taking shape.   The Business School is already operating AI-focused tracks and 4Tech micro-degree programs, and continues to expand its educational and research capabilities with its largest-ever full-time faculty body of 95 members.   On the basement level of Hyundai Motor Hall, the “3C Trading Zone (tentative name)” is currently under development, with a trading demo day scheduled for early May. The space will also include an Art & Culture Room. Artist Uhm Jung-soon’s installation piece, K, the Noseless Elephant, has already been installed in the building.   Construction has also begun on an LED display in the lobby of LG-POSCO Hall, which will serve as a large-scale digital donor wall. An opening ceremony is scheduled following the conclusion of the campaign in May.   Dean Eonsoo Kim stated, “We have come this far thanks to the collective support of each and every member,” adding, “We hope more people will join us on this journey as we prepare for the next 120 years of the Business School.”   The “KUBS 120 MARCH” campaign will continue through May 31, 2026. Donations can be made via the official sponsorship page (box.donus.org/box/koreauniversity/KUBS120march).   As of December 1, 2025 – March 29, 2026 | Total pledged amount: KRW 4,652,317,231

Korea University Business ’19 Lee Sae Rom (Business ’19): the youngest successful candidate to pass

Lee Sae Rom (Business ’19): the youngest successful candidate to pass the 2021 CPA exam (Business ’19 Lee Sae Rom)   A total of 152 students of Korea University have passed the CPA exam in 2021, making Korea University the most successful university for this exam. Since 2016, Korea University produced the highest number of successful candidates for six years. This year, the youngest successful candidate to pass the exam was a student enrolled in KUBS. KUBS interviewed Lee Sae Rom, the youngest student to pass the 56th CPA exam.   Q. Congratulations on being the youngest successful CPA candidate of the 2021 exam! What were your motives to prepare for the CPA exam? Thank you. It’s an honor to be interviewed. I chose the CPA exam because I thought I should become an expert in my major while pondering about my future career. If I could focus wholeheartedly on one field and be successful, I believed that this experience would help to overcome future obstacles. I started without much hesitation. At first, I started to prepare for the exam because I was interested in accounting and finance. While studying, I got to know what accountants do in detail, which made me even more eager to pass the exam. Q. How was it when you heard you were the youngest to pass? How did those around you react to the news? I received a call that informed me about the news two days before the results were announced. I was extremely nervous when receiving the call, and I was thankful about the fact that I have passed rather than being the youngest. My parents, grandparents and other family members were extremely happy and proud when they heard the news. I received a lot of congratulations from my friends and fellow schoolmates, which just amazed me, and I was filled with gratitude. Jungjincho, the press, and accounting firms also called to congratulate, which made me bewildered but happy at the same time.   Q. How did you continue your studies while preparing for the exam? I took courses at university until my first semester as a sophomore, then I took a leave of absence for two semesters. I started preparing for the exam during regular semesters, so I did not study much until summer break. I focused on preparing for the CPA exam since late August. Before that, I focused on regular courses during the semester during exam periods. Two of six courses that I took during my last semester were CPA related courses, which made it easier to prepare for the CPA exam. In my first year of preparing for the CPA, I took basic courses in the first semester, and I could take regular university courses. However, I had to cover various subjects and practice problem solving in the second semester, which makes it difficult to study while taking regular university courses. I began studying a bit late in 2021, so it was my strategy to take all basic courses as quickly as possible, then I jumped in to take problem solving courses. If one finished all courses in November to December and got used to problem solving, I believe January and February is enough to increase the speed and accuracy of problem solving. So do not rush and try to study weak areas one at a time. It’s especially important to mark questions that one has got wrong. There is not enough time to solve all questions, so it helps to focus on questions I previously got wrong.   Q. How did KUBS lectures help in preparing for the CPA exam? I took Financial Management and Intermediate Accounting. The professors taught the courses well so that students who are new to the subject can fully understand, practice, and become interested. These two subjects felt easy because I already got accustomed to them through lectures provided by the school. The professors repeatedly emphasized basic but core concepts of the subjects, which helped in understanding difficult concepts while studying for the CPA exam.   Q. Were there any difficulties caused by COVID-19 and how did you overcome them? I usually studied at home and sometimes went to study cafes to give a change. I was sometimes lonely since I seldom met my friends while preparing for the exam, but my family encouraged me and helped me through this journey. The hardest part of this exam was when I felt unprepared to pass the exam. I fell down many times, but I always stood up and studied. In the days when I couldn’t study well, I took a break and studied harder the next day.   Q. How do you want to spend your remaining days at university? What lectures are you interested in? I have a lot of courses I am interested in, so I want to focus on my studies during the semester and travel now and then. I think I will do a part-time job at an accounting firm during winter break. I’m interested in Business Analytics related courses among business lectures. I became interested in the BA track thanks to ‘Business for Society’ that I took in my first semester. I became interested in analyzing data with programming and statistics. I’m now an accountant that analyzes data so I believe the BA track will be even more important to me. I’m especially interested in Financial Analytics and Operations Analytics.   Q. Anything you want to tell fellow students who are preparing for the CPA exam? It is difficult to focus on studying one thing for a long time. My respect and support to those who are studying for this exam! Don’t compare yourself with others, trust yourself and carry on. We all have different methods and speeds of studying. If you feel anxious, believe in yourself, and do your best to follow your daily schedules. These days will accumulate to prepare you for the exam. It is difficult to study for the exam and regular courses at the same time, but if you decided to pass the CPA exam, I recommend you study without delay.

Korea University Business School ranked 1st in Hankyung Business National Business School Evaluation

Korea University Business School ranked 1st in Hankyung Business National Business School Evaluation for 14 Consecutive Years KKorea University Business School (Dean = Johngseok Bae) took first place in the '2021 National Business School Evaluation' conducted by Hankyung Business. As a result, Korea University Business School has taken the first place for 14 consecutive years since 2008, when the evaluation began, and has firmly maintained its top position in Korea.   KUBS took the first place in the overall ranking by taking the lead in four categories out of 9 evaluation items: work adaptability and practical ability, organizational harmony, sincerity and responsibility, and preference for new employees. In particular, it overtook Seoul National University and ranked first in the preference for hiring new employees selected by personnel in charge of major companies, establishing itself as the best training center for human resources in South Korea.   Hankyung Business said, “Korea University’s unrivaled education and research capabilities are the secret to its success.” They added that “Its strength comes from the fact that they do not slow down the pace of innovation to respond to changes in the business environment and the demands of the times, rather than being complacent with the best titles.”   KUBS is nurturing 'creative leaders who can contribute to society' in line with the needs of companies. In an interview with Hankyung Business, the Dean of Business School, Bae Johngseok, said, "KUBS is pursuing various educational innovations to not only transfer business knowledge, but to add 'humanistic imagination' and cultivate the ability to solve practical problems.” Revealing the educational innovation and talents pursued by the Business School, he also added, "In fact, it is when you encounter a real problem in the real business environment that you truly can understand what the 'essence' of the problem is. The ability to 'communicate' these problems clearly in your own language and collaborate with others to 'find a practical solution' is important,"   In addition, Dean Bae said, “The purpose of management is to help people enjoy a good life together,” and emphasized the importance of imagination for social leaders that want to pursue a better future for humankind. At the same time, revealing the characteristics of students pursued by KUBS, he said, “Korea University Business School aims to create a virtuous circle where better talents can grow into 'social leaders'.”   To achieve this goal, Dean Bae said, “At the business school level, ‘5 strategies, ▲15 core tasks, and ▲30 practical tasks’ have been selected and are currently being implemented.” We are building a problem-based learning (PBL) infrastructure and trying a teaching method for smooth communication.”   Meanwhile, KUBS was the first in Korea to receive the accreditation from AACSB in 2005 and the accreditation from EQUIS in 2007 for all degree programs including undergraduate, graduate, and MBA programs. In 2015, it also acquired full membership of the CEMS Global Alliance, an association of world-class business schools. In addition, it has been firmly holding “the CPA throne” for six consecutive years in the CPA exam, establishing its place as the first and best business school in Korea.   In addition, KUBS has responded to changes in the times through detailed track certification system, which has been in effect since May of this year, and rolled up its arms to nurture creative convergence talents who will lead the future society. In addition, KUBS is taking the lead in social contribution by supporting the start-up of students from other majors and other colleges as well as students from KUBS through Startup Station, contributing to the revitalization of start-up activities of Korea University and society as a whole.   Hankyung Business’s ‘National Business School Evaluation’ evaluates universities from the perspective of companies that are the real users of talent. Personnel managers of the top 300 domestic companies can select schools from 1st to 10th in each evaluation category. The questionnaire consisted of a total of nine items, including △work suitability of major and liberal arts education △work adaptability △organizational harmony △development potential △creative work solution △internationalization system △conscientiousness and responsibility △recruitment preference for new employees △recommendation for admission to college. In order to give equal weight to all nine evaluation categories, the rankings of each category were summed to give the final ranking.    See other related articles>>   Korea University, elected as ‘The best business school’ for 14 consecutive years by HR personnel Korea University’s relentless run.. its secret is its matchless education and research capability “We need to raise ‘social leaders’ capable of adjusting to changes… Merely having business knowledge is not enough”
