‘KUBS 120 MARCH’ Campaign Nears 40% of Goal … Total Pledges Reach Approx. KRW 4.6 Billion Three major large-scale pledges secured within four months of launch … Campaign continues through May 31     Korea University Business School’s KRW 12 billion fundraising campaign, “KUBS 120 MARCH,” has secured approximately KRW 4.6 billion in pledged donations within just four months of its launch, nearing 40% of its goal.   Since the campaign’s launch in January, when pledged donations stood at around KRW 2 billion, the total has more than doubled in just three months. From December 1, 2025, to March 29, 2026, total pledges reached KRW 4,652,317,231, with 324 participants, including corporations, alumni, faculty, staff, and students.       | Three major pledges secured … Alumni and corporations join forces    One of the most notable achievements is the securing of three major pledges. An anonymous donor pledged support for the research fund, Eugene Investment & Securities Co., Ltd. for the development fund, and Samyang Tongsang for scholarships. Alumni account for approximately 62% of total pledges, while corporations represent about 35%, jointly driving the campaign forward.   Group donations have also continued. Following the participation of the Class of ’81 alumni association, the Business School Class of ’79 Scholarship Committee (28 members), the KUBS Class of ’98 Alumni Night (126 participants), as well as faculty and staff, have also joined the campaign.      | Expanding participation across classes, generations, and professions    The donor base is highly diverse. Participation spans from alumni who entered in the 1970s to current students from the Class of ’26, as well as members of EMBA, DBA, and AMP programs, undergraduate alumni, and even alumni from the College of Medicine. From individual research labs and faculty bands to student councils, all corners of the Business School are actively engaging with the campaign, further broadening its base of participation.   This campaign is particularly meaningful in that it places value not only on the total amount raised but also on participation itself. From small contributions starting at KRW 10,000 to major gifts reaching KRW 1 billion, every act of giving becomes part of the shared legacy of KUBS’s 120-year history.    | Investing in the future campus… Advancing the 3C Trading Zone and 4Tech strategy    The funds raised are being used to realize the Business School’s future vision. Alongside the advancement of the “4Tech Strategy,” centered on AI, semiconductors, energy, and robotics, spatial innovation projects are also taking shape.   The Business School is already operating AI-focused tracks and 4Tech micro-degree programs, and continues to expand its educational and research capabilities with its largest-ever full-time faculty body of 95 members.   On the basement level of Hyundai Motor Hall, the “3C Trading Zone (tentative name)” is currently under development, with a trading demo day scheduled for early May. The space will also include an Art & Culture Room. Artist Uhm Jung-soon’s installation piece, K, the Noseless Elephant, has already been installed in the building.   Construction has also begun on an LED display in the lobby of LG-POSCO Hall, which will serve as a large-scale digital donor wall. An opening ceremony is scheduled following the conclusion of the campaign in May.   Dean Eonsoo Kim stated, “We have come this far thanks to the collective support of each and every member,” adding, “We hope more people will join us on this journey as we prepare for the next 120 years of the Business School.”   The “KUBS 120 MARCH” campaign will continue through May 31, 2026. Donations can be made via the official sponsorship page (box.donus.org/box/koreauniversity/KUBS120march).   As of December 1, 2025 – March 29, 2026 | Total pledged amount: KRW 4,652,317,231

Global MBA/Global MIM/S³ Asia MBA Admission Information Session

Global MBA/Global MIM/S³ Asia MBA Admission Information Session   The MBA admission information session for the second half of the 2019 school year, hosted by Korea University Graduate School of Business, was held on March 9th at Hyundai Motor Hall, Room 403.     The session began with a brief introduction about six courses offered at Korea University by professor Song Oh Yoon, an area chair of S³ Asia MBA program. Then, professor Kwanghyun Kim introduced the Global MBA/MIM program in detail. In addition, students who are currently enrolled in MBA programs gave a speech about their experience at Korea University. In particular, Sang-wook Cho, student president of Global MBA program, said, "Students have a very strong bond and actively exchange opinions with professors and alumni. I don't regret my choice of choosing Korea MBA." Later, professor Song Oh Yoon introduced the S³ Asia MBA program in detail.     After the introduction of each program, a comfortable Q&A session was held. One applicant asked about the difference between the Global MBA and MIM program. "They both are programs that help you acquire knowledge about international management," professor Kwanghyun Kim said. "If MIM is a process of deepening knowledge related to management in a short period of time, Global MBA often deals with students who experienced a job change to other areas."   For the S³ Asia MBA program, there were questions about living abroad as more than half of the program will be conducted at foreign universities. In response, two Korean and two Chinese students, including the student president Sang-hoon Park, responded in person and provided some practical assistance. There were also questions about whether a student who did not study business administration in his undergraduate had something to study beforehand. "I think diversity is important in graduate schools," professor Yoon said. "It is always better to have knowledge in various fields than to study business particularly in advance."     Global MBA 소개   Global MIM 소개    S³ Asia MBA 소개

[Startup Lecture Series] MyRealTrip CEO Donggun Lee "Make your own story in Startup"

[Startup Lecture Series] MyRealTrip CEO Donggun Lee "Make your own story in Startup" The 2019 Lecture Series of Startup Institute was held on March 12th at 6:30 pm at the KUBS Main Building, 2nd floor. As a speaker, Donggun Lee, CEO of MyRealTrip, gave a lecture on the theme of "Starting Career in Startup." MyRealTrip started as a local tour service in 2012 and is now a South Korea’s first free tour platform in which tourists are able to book their local tour services, flights and accommodations.   Lee first explained why he had decided to speak on the topic of the lecture. “Many people are often anxious when they start their first career at a startup, and I want to help them," Lee said. Lee emphasized the identity of startups. "Startup can be a lot of confusion because rapid growth is its top priority," he said. "You can learn from startups and develop only when you recognize this."   Lee explained that a desire for professional jobs today could be an illusion. "Technology is changing so quickly, and the future is uncertain," he said. "It's a big fantasy that a particular technology or license would guarantee a career. So, it is rather wise to develop your general skills," said Lee.   Lee then stressed that students can learn the ability to “define and structure problems" in startups. He also said that there are no experts because the problems they face are always new. “The ability to define and solve problems that can be learned from startups is the very "general" skill that is essential anywhere.”   Lee also stressed the importance of the challenge. "Don't stay in your comfort zone. You have to go outside and continue to challenge yourself. You have to experience what you can do only in startups and make your own story," he said.     Many questions from students then followed. One student from KUBS asked, "I wonder how you did the formation of your team in the early stages of your startup." "In my case, I started with two business school students, but it's not ideal," Lee said. "It's better to interact with students from different studies to have diverse background knowledge."   Every semester, Startup Institute holds "Lecture on Demand," a lecture series on practical matters, and “Lecture Series,” a lecture series on entrepreneurship and innovation. Classes are open for everyone including startup teams, KUBS students and anyone interested in starting a business. For related inquiries, you can contact the Startup Institute (02-3290-1699).

[KUBS Student Council ‘Wave’] Interview with President

[KUBS Student Council ‘Wave’] Interview with President   Q. Please introduce KUBS student council ‘Wave’. [President] Good Afternoon. I am Park Jun Hyun, president of WAVE, the 52nd student council. We are working with the slogan 'Your wish becomes a wave' from November 2018. Currently, the student council consists of 10 members including the presidency and the director of the 7 departments. When the new member recruiting is completed, more members will participate in various projects such as career development, welfare, culture, sports for KUBS. [Vice President] Good Afternoon I am Cho Yong Joon, vice president of WAVE. WAVE has a wide range of projects in culture, welfare and career development, and we are doing everything we can to help KUBS students. This year we are planning a cultural education project called 'Color U' and a career development project for senior students. I will work hard for this year.   Q. What is the core value that WAVE pursues? [President] 'Empathy' and ‘Strong Drive' are two core values that WAVE pursues. So far, many student councils have tried to get closer to the students, but it was not easy to narrow down the distance. We, WAVE, want to share empathy by narrowing the distance. Just like the slogan of 'Your wish becomes a wave', our core value is to create real results and make our students’ wishes come true.   [Vice President] ‘Society without hurt students’ is another core value that WAVE pursues. We will work hard to make sure that as many students as possible are eligible for the projects we have planned, regardless of its kind. We will conduct a variety of surveys to hear opinions of the minority, and carefully consider all voices. I think that the various opinions and interests of the students will become our driving force.   Q.What kind of effort is WAVE making for KUBS freshmen? [President] First of all, in order to ensure smooth school life for freshmen, we prepared two orientation programs since December. Thanks to that, we finished the orientation without any accident. In addition, we are preparing programs such as career development and cultural lectures so that freshmen can accumulate much experience inside KUBS. Furthermore, we are working to provide a pleasant educational environment to the students through the projects such as the establishment of the male student lounge and the improvement of the female student lounge.   [Vice President] As mentioned above, we prepared freshmen welcoming orientation for about two months and completed it successfully. We thought providing adequate information would be the best way to relieve fear about school life for freshmen students, and we are also trying to make an atmosphere where students can approach and ask questions to our seniors without any inconvenience. One example is to set up a variety of rules and codes of conduct among students to prevent freshmen from feeling burdensome when drinking. It is our greatest goal to gather opinions from new students who are not easily able to deliver their thoughts easily because of their fear about school life.   Q.Do you have any suggestions for freshmen as seniors of KUBS? [[President] I would like to advise you to go through as much experience as possible. I believe that first year in university is the best time to experience various things without any burden or worry about academics. I would like to advise you to go through as many experiences as possible, and to meet a lot of people without any worries. I believe you will find the clothes that suit you best in that process. I hope you will experience diverse things without feeling any pressure.   [Vice President] It's okay to take a break. You have just completed a fierce entrance examination and entered Korea University while overcoming the burden and concerns from others. Good results are a fortune, but that kind of burden will only keep you running. No one will blame you for taking a break. We will always wait for you with strong belief, so we hope you will have a little time to rest, meet your friends, and have time to charge for yourself while doing what you wish to do. Thank you very much.
