[Entrepreneurship Academy Lecture On-Demand] “Coding Now Done by ‘Vibe’”

“Coding Now Done by ‘Vibe’”... Special Lecture on AX-Based Startup Insights   On March 17, the Entrepreneurship Academy Lecture On-Demand was held, hosted by Korea University Startup Institute. The session featured Malacca, an AX strategist and AX builder, who delivered a hands-on lecture titled “Vibe Coding Practice: From Planning to MVP Deployment (Gemini & Firebase),” combining AI-based development methods with real-world startup experience.    The lecture drew strong interest from students and was held across two classrooms in the Hyundai Motor Hall. Approximately 170 participants attended, reaching maximum capacity. Although each classroom accommodates around 100 people, attendance exceeded seating capacity, with even stair areas being utilized. To accommodate all participants, a live Zoom broadcast was conducted simultaneously, allowing students to join from both classrooms.      Participants were highly engaged in the hands-on session, following along with coding exercises during the lecture. Students had the opportunity to build simple programs in real time, gaining practical experience with AI-based development processes.    During the lecture, AI-based processes were introduced, emphasizing that AI is not merely a tool but a key driver of AX (AI Transformation), transforming corporate workflows and organizational culture. While highlighting the high productivity of AI “vibe coding,” Malacca also noted the need for safeguards such as “context engineering” and “harness” to address the challenges of maintaining complex systems. He further emphasized that the essence of entrepreneurship lies not in technology-driven thinking, but in validating hypotheses through customer interviews. He advised that “starting quickly, failing, and learning fosters a virtuous cycle of growth driven by execution.”      During the session, Malacca utilized “Jjap Slack,” a tool he personally developed using vibe coding, to facilitate real-time interaction through live comments, enabling participants to ask questions and receive feedback instantly. The session was particularly meaningful in that it was conducted using the same harness template provided to students, allowing them to work with programs at a level applicable to real-world practice.    This “Entrepreneurship Academy Lecture On-Demand 1” highlighted both the evolving role of developers in the AX era and the practical capabilities required for entrepreneurship, offering students integrated insights that bridge technology and business perspectives. The Korea University Startup Institute plans to continue expanding hands-on, practice-oriented startup education programs.

Lim Joon-yeop (Business 15) and So Young-soo (Business 15) won the top prize in the “2019 Future Kor

Lim Joon-yeop (Business 15) and So Young-soo (Business 15) of Korea University Business School won the top prize at the "2019 Future Korea Ideas Contest" organized by the Ministry of Strategy and Finance. The contest was held to raise social interest in future issues and find effective ad creative policy alternatives. The two students applied for the colloquium category and scored excellent results. 1. You have received the top prize for submitting a proposal for the ‘Policy Plan to Help Build Future Commercial Zone through Shared Stores’. Please explain the plan in detail. ‘Policy Plan to Help Build Future Commercial Zone through Shared Stores’ suggests utilizing the form of shared stores to reduce the closing rate of self-employed businesses, which is currently increasing in Korea due to high burden of rental fees. Although self-employed people account for much higher portion of Korea's job market than other advanced countries, the current situation of self-employed businesses shows poor figures in various ways. We focused on the burden of rent, among all the other burdens, and we wanted to solve it by utilizing the concept of ‘shared economy’. We applied this concept to store operations based on the fact that shared economy can enhance efficiency for the future society and presented three support policies: ① support for shared interior costs, ② support for store sharing consulting, and ③ support for store switching risks. With more than two operators under one roof, it is expected that shared stores will bring various positive effects such as increased efficiency in utilizing space and easing the burden on self-employed businesses. 2. Please tell us how you feel about winning the best prize. We met through Professor Nam, Dae Il’s ‘Venture Management’ class. Through the course of one semester, we developed business ideas. Thanks to Professor Nam’s recommendation, we participated in the Campus CEO Start-up Competition and actually won the second prize, and we are now preparing to start a new business. I participated in the contest to propose policies that could solve government-level issues related to shared stores. I think the biggest help for winning the best prize came from creating ideas through utilizing the possible improvements for institutional and administrative barriers we had organized based on the feedbacks we received during the class and competition. Professor Nam and many other professors gave feedback on business items, which led to efforts to improve policies for the business.

[Startup Institute Lecture Series #8] Do Hyun-Myung, CEO of Impact Square

The 2019 Lecture Series hosted by KUBS (Dean: Kim Jae Wook) and Startup Institute (Head: Kim Hicheon) was held at Hyundai Motor Hall on December 10. Do Hyun-Myung, CEO of Impact Square, was the speaker under the theme of "DIG DEEPER! Find New Opportunities in Social Issues." CEO Do Hyun-Myung first explained why he started his business, Impact Square. "I worked for a long time in the game planning team of Naver, but I came to think that my work was unsustainable in the future," Do said. "I learned about the concept of ‘social enterprise’ after reading the book ‘80 Alternative Entrepreneurs Who Changed The World.” CEO Do stressed the competitive importance of "social values," explaining why companies should be interested in social issues. "In order to pursue social values, we had to sacrifice economic value, but I believe that Impact Square can be designed so that social value can be competitive as a form of business," Do said. "This concept is called Impact Business, and Impact Square plays a role as an accelerator for these impact businesses." CEO Do then continued to introduce the cases of Poiene, Opa Tech, Element and Hotel Cappuccino, which were all accelerated by Impact Square. "Just having good social values does not appeal anything," CEO Do said. "Only when it leads to a new kind of customer experience can we secure customers with royalties and create value." "I think social values are non-reversible trend," Do said. "If you find value in something deeper, you will have a chance to grow higher." After the lecture, a question and answer session followed. One student asked about the difference between startups and social ventures. "Although we start our own businesses to satisfy the desires of the market, most social problems arise because they are not traded in the first place," CEO Do said. "Creating social values is creating new values that were not originally traded in the market.” Every semester, Startup Institute provides startup education through "Lecture on Demand," a working-level lecture series, and "Lecture Series," a special lecture series on startups and ventures. Classes are open courses, which means they are open to not only the employees of a tenant company, but also anyone interested in starting a business. For related inquiries, you can contact the Startup Institute (02-3290-1699).
