"세계 속의 고대, 고대 속의 세계를 느끼고 함께 진화하라"    - 김봉선 Global MBA&MIM 아카데믹 디렉터 인터뷰   고려대학교 경영전문대학원(원장=배종석)의 대표적 주간 MBA과정인 Global MBA(이하 G-MBA)와 Global MIM(이하 G-MIM)프로그램! 두 프로그램의 2022학년도 신입생 모집 2라운드가 시작되었습니다.   오늘은 지원을 앞두고 여러가지 고민을 하고 있는 분들에게 도움이 될 수 있도록 김봉선 아카데믹 디렉터(Academic Director)의 인터뷰를 전해드리려고 하는데요!   작년 9월부터 아카데믹 디렉터로 부임 후 그 누구보다 두 과정에 열정을 쏟고 있는 김봉선 교수는 G-MBA와 G-MIM 과정에 대해 “세계 속의 고대, 고대 속의 세계(KUBS in the World, The World in KUBS)를 여실히 느끼며 함께 진화할 수 있는 과정”이라고 말합니다.   G-MBA & G-MIM에 관한 모든 것, 김봉선 교수의 인터뷰를 통해 자세히 확인해 보세요!         1. 먼저 G-MBA는 어떤 프로그램인가요? G-MBA 과정은 미래의 글로벌 CEO 육성을 위한 실무 중심 MBA 프로그램으로, 1년 집약적인 과정입니다.  급격한 환경의 변화에 선제적으로 대응하기 위해서는 새로운 도전을 계속해야 한다고 생각합니다. 사람과 기술을 연결하여 사회에 실질적인 영향을 미칠 수 있는 혁신을 지속할 수 있는 역량을 갖춰야 할 것입니다. 이를 위해서 고려대 경영전문대학원도 새로운 변화를 받아들이는 유연성을 발휘하여 지원자들에게 맞춤형 프로그램을 제공하고 있습니다. G-MBA는 지원자의 목표(경영전문성 강화, 경력전환, 창업, 기업승계 등)와 학습 계획에 따라 선택할 수 있도록 세 가지 트랙으로 구성되어 있으며, 급격히 변화하는 시대적 요구에 따라 기존의 전략, 재무, 마케팅 외에 ESG, 디지털 트랜스포메이션(Digital Transformation), 그리고 앙트프러너십(Entrepreneurship)을 전공으로 추가하였습니다. 중요한 것은 각 전공에 대해 개별적인 학문으로 학습하는데 그치는 것이 아니라 이들 간의 시너지를 극대화시키도록 더 넓은 안목을 가지고 실무에 적용할 수 있는 인재를 양성하는 것이 목표라는 점입니다. 예를 들면, ESG 관점에서 해결해야할 문제를 찾아내고, 이에 대해 디지털 트랜스포메이션(Digital Transformation) 관점에서 해결책을 찾아내고, 이를 구체화하여 사회에 공헌하기 위해 창업을 하는 글로벌 리더를 양성하고자 합니다.         2. G-MBA가 세 개의 트랙으로 나뉘어져 있다고 하셨는데요, 각 트랙별로 어떤 점이 다른가요? G-MBA 트랙은 (1) KUBS MBA 트랙(1년) (2) 교환 학생 트랙(1년 6개월) (3) 복수 학위 트랙(2년)으로 나뉘어져 있습니다.     첫째, KUBS MBA 트랙(KUBS MBA Track)은 1년 안에 집중적으로 공부하고 현업에 빠르게 복귀하고자 하는 수요를 맞추기 위한 패스트 트랙(Fast Track) 입니다. 둘째, 교환 학생 트랙(Student Exchange Track)은 첫번째 트랙인 KUBS MBA 트랙(1년) 수료 후 6개월 동안 65개 글로벌 협정교 중 하나로 교환학생을 가는 트랙입니다. 셋째, 복수 학위 트랙(Dual Degree Track)은 첫번째 트랙인 KUBS MBA 트랙(1년) 수료 후 1년 동안 프랑스 ESCP 또는 독일 EBS에서 수학하면 해당학교의 석사학위를 G-MBA 학위와 함께 복수로 취득할 수 있는 트랙입니다.  특히 두번째와 세번째 트랙의 경우 해외 파트너 대학에 학비를 추가로 내지 않고 소정의 등록비만 내고 6개월 또는 1년간의 과정을 수학할 수 있습니다. 이와 같이 본인이 원하는 학습 계획에 따라 맞춤형 프로그램을 제공하고 있습니다.     3. 다른 MBA 과정과 다르게 G-MBA만의 특별한 과목이 있을까요? G-MBA의 경우 산학 연계 프로그램으로 “Business Practicum”이라는 과목이 있습니다. 기업이 현안을 제시하고 학생들 4~6명이 팀을 이루어 이를 3개월에 걸쳐 분석하고 솔루션을 제안하는 활동입니다.    학생들은 현업으로 진출하기 전에 실제 경영 사례를 가지고 그동안 학습한 지식을 현장에 적용해 보는 실무 경험을 얻을 뿐만 아니라 해당 기업에 인턴 또는 정식 직원으로 채용되는 기회로 이어질 수 있는 값진 시간을 보내게 될 것입니다.  또 기업 입장에서는 학생들의 참신하고 다양한 관점과 아카데믹 어드바이저(Academic Adviser)로 참여하는 교수님들의 인사이트(insight)를 얻어 갈수 있는 좋은 기회가 될 것입니다. 프로젝트에 참여한 글로벌 학생들에게 회사를 홍보할 수 있고, 학생들의 자질을 미리 파악하여 우수한 인재를 채용하는 기회가 될 수 있죠.     4. 그렇다면 또 다른 주간 MBA인 G-MIM은 어떤 프로그램인가요? UK Financial Times Announces World's Top 100 E-MBA Rankings for 2019... KUBS ahead of Columbia University (36th) and Cornell University (46th) KUBS (Dean: Jae Wook Kim) E-MBA was ranked 27th in the Executive MBA Ranking 2019 by the UK Financial Times. According to the FT, KUBS E-MBA was ranked 27th this year, after being 38th last year, marking the first in the national level for the ninth consecutive year. For the last three years, KUBS E-MBA was ranked 28th on average (20th in 2017, 38th in 2018 and 27th in 2019), proving that its curriculum which is focused on practice in different industries was top-notch. Its rank is higher than those of world's most prestigious business schools, including Columbia Business School (36th), UCLA: Anderson (42nd), and Cornell University: Johnson (46th). This year, HEC Paris was ranked first, followed by Kellogg/HKUST Business School. Among Korean universities, Yonsei University was ranked 34th. The FT rankings are based on various evaluation categories such as salary increase rate, promotion rate, faculty with doctorates, and internationalization index; it announces the rankings of the world's top 100 E-MBA programs every year. For this year's evaluation, KUBS E-MBA received high marks in such categories as salary increase rate, aims achieved and faculty with doctorates. KUBS E-MBA stands out clearly, because it was ranked in the top place while being a program run by a single university only. Jyh-ping Chang (KUBS ’79), CEO of Astronergy Solar Korea, Donates 500 Million KRW   Jyh-ping Chang, CEO of Astronergy Solar Korea, donated 500 million KRW for KUBS scholarship. The scholarship donated by Chang, who graduated KUBS in 1979, will be used for undergraduate students, and a donation ceremony took place at the Korea University Main Building on July 10th.  (왼쪽부터) 권수영 경영대학장, 장치평 교우(경영79), 염재호 총장, 유병현 대외협력처장 (사진제공=커뮤니케이션팀)    At the donation ceremony, Chang said, "I'm always very interested in corporate social responsibility. I'd like to give my support to my alma mater, Korea University, in order to contribute to society."  "We appreciate your support for future generations," said Jae-ho Yeom, President of Korea University. "We will work hard to nurture creative talents who will lead the future."  Chang started his career at Sammi Development Center in 1983, followed by a career in Hong Kong working for Kolon Corporation as the vice president. He established Astronergy Solar Korea in 2009 and became its CEO. Since 2015, he has served as an adjunct professor and advisor at KUBS, and also as the 84th class president of the AMP program.   With a deep interest in corporate social responsibility, he has continued to make various donations at home and abroad. He sponsored "Town Musicians of Bremen,” a musical for children from low-income families. He also provided solar power facilities to Hongcheon Haemill School, an alternative school for multicultural kids. CEO Chang Jyh Ping (Business ‘79), Donation of 500 Million Won to KUBS   Chang Jyh Ping, CEO of Astronergy Solar Korea Co., Ltd. , donated 500 million won to finance scholarship at KUBS. And I thought the donation to KUBS would be meaningful to support my junior students at KUBS.”   KU President Jaeho Yeom replied “Thank you for your thoughtful contribution for KUBS students,” “I will make sure the contribution will be used to support future leaders at KUBS.” Mr. Chang started his career at Sammi Development Project Division in 1983, then he served as a president of Kolon Global Corp.’s Hong Kong affiliated company. In 2009, he established Astronergy Solar Korea Co., Ltd. and was appointed as CEO. Since 2015 he was also appointed as an adjunct professor and a member of the advisory committee at the Business School. Mr. Chang is the president of the 84th KUBS AMP Alumni Association. CEO Chang Jyh Ping cares about corporate social responsibility and continues his thoughtful contributions inside and outside of Korea. Examples include the donation to musical theatre ‘Town Musicians of Bremen’ for children from low-income households, and donation to ‘Hongcheon Hae Mil School’, a multicultural alternative school, for the installation of photovoltaic power generation facilities. Moreover, Mr. Chang organized an energy welfare project, ‘Sunlight, Happiness, and Sharing’ with Gangwon-do Province’s Korea Energy Agency. KUBS Receives Highest Score in JWB GRP Among Korean Universities  Acknowledgement made by a credible assessment standard estimating research performance of a nine-year period   Korea University Business School (KUBS; Dean=Professor Soo Young Kwon) received the highest score among Korean universities in the field of Business and Management in the JWB GRP System created by a publication in the Journal of World Business (JWB). The analysis was computed statistically based on the nine-year research performance between 2007 and 2015.   In the field of Business and Management, KUBS topped in Korea and is ranked 143rd worldwide as well as placing within the top 10 in Asia. Among universities in Korea, △Seoul National University (173rd) came next followed by △Yonsei University (177th) and △Sungkyunkwan University (268th). In the IB field, KUBS is 1st in the nation, 6th in Asia, and 33rd in the world.   The analysis was conducted through the Global Research Performance (GRP) System. As the existing rankings are based on stated preference approach, which is shown to be prone to exposure bias, GRP is provided to readers by collecting bibliometric data for nine-year period from the Web of Science. Using the number of journals and citations, the researchers included visible journals to guarantee that all relevant research is captured.   Journals in the GRP system included 389,785 publications in total by relevant institutional units. Geographically, this output originated from 3,352 institutions in 127 countries, with 53.1% of these produced in the U.S. and 68% produced by AACSB-accredited institutions. In the IB field, the researchers identified 1,029 institutions in 75 countries published at least one paper between 2007 and 2015 in any of the seven IB journals in the system.   The achievement is significant in that it is being lauded despite the fact that KUBS is a non-English speaking institution. The evaluation was made based on the top journals published in English-language. Among the 200 high-ranking institutions on the list, only 54 of them situated in countries where English is not the native language.     “Making world-class research performance is just as important as strengthening our global competitiveness as a business education institution,” KUBS Dean Soo Young Kwon said. “There is no room for complacency. Korea University Releases “2017 KUBS Worldwide Business Research Rankings” Analysis on 40,000 publications data from 86 business journals. University of Pennsylvania is ranked 1st followed by Erasmus University Rotterdam (2nd), and University of Michigan at Ann Arbor (3rd)…Korea University moved up three places to sit in 71st, Korea’s only business school to be named in the top 100.   On October 19 (Thu), the Center for Business Research Analytics at Korea University Business School (KUBS; Dean=Professor Soo Young Kwon) released the 2017 KUBS Worldwide Business Research Rankings™ (KUBS Rankings).     This year, the University of Pennsylvania maintained the top spot followed by Erasmus University Rotterdam (2nd) and University of Michigan at Ann Arbor (3rd). Within the Asian region, City University of Hong Kong (5th) and National University of Singapore (6th) placed in the top 10 while Hong Kong Polytechnic University (18th) is ranked in the top 20. Korea University has been ranked as the one and only university in Korea to be named in the top 100. Other Korean universities are ranked as follows: Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (111th), Seoul National University (179th), and Yonsei University (204th). Particularly, Korea University stayed at No. 1 in Korea, placing itself within the top 10 in Asia.     The KUBS Rankings, annually released in autumn, is an evaluation index which indicates the research capabilities and performances of universities worldwide by data analyses on 40,000 publications listed in the 86 distinguished journals. The worldwide rankings are released as an overall index which can be viewed by “Rankings by Area” and “Rankings by Journal”. The areas are divided into seven business research areas of study, including △Accounting, △Finance, △Management, △Management Information System (MIS), △Marketing, △Operations, Management & Management Science (OM/MS), and △International Business (IB) & Strategy. Five years of publication data from 2012 to 2016 have been computed for the 2017 KUBS Worldwide Rankings. The top 300 universities are ranked based on the sum of converted scores, reflecting the number of authors and their affiliations.   Looking at the performances of Korean universities in the 2017 KUBS Rankings, Korea University moved up three places higher from 74th to 71st this year, and KAIST Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology soared upward 28 places (139th in 2016). Meanwhile, Seoul National University and Yonsei University showed a drop in the ranking compared to last year.  The KUBS Rankings provides analyses on a wider scope of journals compared to the UTD Top 100 Business School Research Rankings™ (UTD Rankings) which conducts analyses only on 24 distinguished journals.
