"세계 속의 고대, 고대 속의 세계를 느끼고 함께 진화하라"    - 김봉선 Global MBA&MIM 아카데믹 디렉터 인터뷰   고려대학교 경영전문대학원(원장=배종석)의 대표적 주간 MBA과정인 Global MBA(이하 G-MBA)와 Global MIM(이하 G-MIM)프로그램! 두 프로그램의 2022학년도 신입생 모집 2라운드가 시작되었습니다.   오늘은 지원을 앞두고 여러가지 고민을 하고 있는 분들에게 도움이 될 수 있도록 김봉선 아카데믹 디렉터(Academic Director)의 인터뷰를 전해드리려고 하는데요!   작년 9월부터 아카데믹 디렉터로 부임 후 그 누구보다 두 과정에 열정을 쏟고 있는 김봉선 교수는 G-MBA와 G-MIM 과정에 대해 “세계 속의 고대, 고대 속의 세계(KUBS in the World, The World in KUBS)를 여실히 느끼며 함께 진화할 수 있는 과정”이라고 말합니다.   G-MBA & G-MIM에 관한 모든 것, 김봉선 교수의 인터뷰를 통해 자세히 확인해 보세요!         1. 먼저 G-MBA는 어떤 프로그램인가요? G-MBA 과정은 미래의 글로벌 CEO 육성을 위한 실무 중심 MBA 프로그램으로, 1년 집약적인 과정입니다.  급격한 환경의 변화에 선제적으로 대응하기 위해서는 새로운 도전을 계속해야 한다고 생각합니다. 사람과 기술을 연결하여 사회에 실질적인 영향을 미칠 수 있는 혁신을 지속할 수 있는 역량을 갖춰야 할 것입니다. 이를 위해서 고려대 경영전문대학원도 새로운 변화를 받아들이는 유연성을 발휘하여 지원자들에게 맞춤형 프로그램을 제공하고 있습니다. G-MBA는 지원자의 목표(경영전문성 강화, 경력전환, 창업, 기업승계 등)와 학습 계획에 따라 선택할 수 있도록 세 가지 트랙으로 구성되어 있으며, 급격히 변화하는 시대적 요구에 따라 기존의 전략, 재무, 마케팅 외에 ESG, 디지털 트랜스포메이션(Digital Transformation), 그리고 앙트프러너십(Entrepreneurship)을 전공으로 추가하였습니다. 중요한 것은 각 전공에 대해 개별적인 학문으로 학습하는데 그치는 것이 아니라 이들 간의 시너지를 극대화시키도록 더 넓은 안목을 가지고 실무에 적용할 수 있는 인재를 양성하는 것이 목표라는 점입니다. 예를 들면, ESG 관점에서 해결해야할 문제를 찾아내고, 이에 대해 디지털 트랜스포메이션(Digital Transformation) 관점에서 해결책을 찾아내고, 이를 구체화하여 사회에 공헌하기 위해 창업을 하는 글로벌 리더를 양성하고자 합니다.         2. G-MBA가 세 개의 트랙으로 나뉘어져 있다고 하셨는데요, 각 트랙별로 어떤 점이 다른가요? G-MBA 트랙은 (1) KUBS MBA 트랙(1년) (2) 교환 학생 트랙(1년 6개월) (3) 복수 학위 트랙(2년)으로 나뉘어져 있습니다.     첫째, KUBS MBA 트랙(KUBS MBA Track)은 1년 안에 집중적으로 공부하고 현업에 빠르게 복귀하고자 하는 수요를 맞추기 위한 패스트 트랙(Fast Track) 입니다. 둘째, 교환 학생 트랙(Student Exchange Track)은 첫번째 트랙인 KUBS MBA 트랙(1년) 수료 후 6개월 동안 65개 글로벌 협정교 중 하나로 교환학생을 가는 트랙입니다. 셋째, 복수 학위 트랙(Dual Degree Track)은 첫번째 트랙인 KUBS MBA 트랙(1년) 수료 후 1년 동안 프랑스 ESCP 또는 독일 EBS에서 수학하면 해당학교의 석사학위를 G-MBA 학위와 함께 복수로 취득할 수 있는 트랙입니다.  특히 두번째와 세번째 트랙의 경우 해외 파트너 대학에 학비를 추가로 내지 않고 소정의 등록비만 내고 6개월 또는 1년간의 과정을 수학할 수 있습니다. 이와 같이 본인이 원하는 학습 계획에 따라 맞춤형 프로그램을 제공하고 있습니다.     3. 다른 MBA 과정과 다르게 G-MBA만의 특별한 과목이 있을까요? G-MBA의 경우 산학 연계 프로그램으로 “Business Practicum”이라는 과목이 있습니다. 기업이 현안을 제시하고 학생들 4~6명이 팀을 이루어 이를 3개월에 걸쳐 분석하고 솔루션을 제안하는 활동입니다.    학생들은 현업으로 진출하기 전에 실제 경영 사례를 가지고 그동안 학습한 지식을 현장에 적용해 보는 실무 경험을 얻을 뿐만 아니라 해당 기업에 인턴 또는 정식 직원으로 채용되는 기회로 이어질 수 있는 값진 시간을 보내게 될 것입니다.  또 기업 입장에서는 학생들의 참신하고 다양한 관점과 아카데믹 어드바이저(Academic Adviser)로 참여하는 교수님들의 인사이트(insight)를 얻어 갈수 있는 좋은 기회가 될 것입니다. 프로젝트에 참여한 글로벌 학생들에게 회사를 홍보할 수 있고, 학생들의 자질을 미리 파악하여 우수한 인재를 채용하는 기회가 될 수 있죠.     4. 그렇다면 또 다른 주간 MBA인 G-MIM은 어떤 프로그램인가요? KUBS, Top-Ranked Business School in ‘2018 University Rankings by Korea JoongAng Daily’ In the ‘2018 University Rankings by Korea JoongAng Daily’, Korea University's business school (Dean Soo Young Kwon) topped the list with the highest score. The combined score of 14 indicators, including professors' research performance, learning environment, and student employment rates, was remarkably high. KUBS’s diverse support to faculty members’ research performance, the number of publications to international journals has been increasing. In fact, KUBS ranked the second highest in the amount of research funds per teaching staff, and ranked the third highest in the number of international publication per teaching staff which was 1.03 per teaching staff. Moreover, not to mention the alumni’s high employment rate, the rate of maintaining their employment status was also high. The statistics demonstrate employers’ preference towards KUBS alumni. On the other hand, another area that KUBS puts emphasis on is its startup institute. Established in September 2016, KUBS Startup Institute holds a startup competition every semester to select a new batch of startup teams. Admitted teams are provided their own offices as well as a variety of education sessions held throughout the year. The performance of the teams is outstanding as well. Korea University Ranked Top for the 6th Consecutive Years by the Korea Economic Daily Business 2018 MBA Ranking   Korea University Business School (Dean=Soo Young Kwon) has recorded the highest MBA rank in the country, far outstripping other universities in Korea. This achievement reaffirms KUBS’s position as the best institute for MBA programs.   releases annual report of ‘2018 MBA Ranking in South Korea’ based on survey by human resources managers at 300 best organizations. On the report, Korea University’s MBA ranked the top for 6 straight years. Since its first report released in 2013, MBA at KUBS continued its No.1 ranking, standing on the very top of the list. This year, added KAIST to the list of a total of 14 universities offering accredited MBA programs. Their performance was assessed by human resources managers from major companies in South Korea. The survey was conducted on △employer’s preference △potentiality △ability to work as a team △ability to work in global business △professionalism △willingness to recommend.   In particular, the Business School’s MBA placed top on △potentiality △ability to work as a team, achieved the highest rank with a total mark of 4600. KUBS, “Indisputable No. 1” for 10 Consecutive Years in National Business School Assessment Korea University Business School (KUBS) is ranked first for the tenth consecutive year in the 2017 National Business School Assessment annually conducted by Hankyung Business. KUBS secured its top spot since 2008 and stood at the leading position among business schools in Korea.     ▲Photo=Hankyung Business​ This year’s assessment was surveyed by HR directors of the top 200 companies in 2017, mutually selected by NICE Group and Hankyung Business. The survey was carried out on 55 business schools whose number of admission-accepted students is 100 or more. The assessment was analyzed by Global Research based on nine performance categories: △Job adaptability, △Compatibility with organization, △Development potential, △Creative problem-solving skills, △Globalization system, △Diligence and responsibility, △Recruitment for new employees, and △Entrance into Graduate School.   Of the nine indicators, KUBS demonstrated excellence in △Job adaptability and △Diligence and responsibility. Particularly, the business school outperformed Sungkyunkwan University, which placed second in the assessment, in the job adaptability category with a margin of more than 100 points. KUBS also maintained the top position in the diligence and responsibility category.   Hankyung Business highly praised the efforts of the business school for having 83 professors, Korea’s largest and unbeatable faculty size, and making bold investments in its start-up institute, an independent operating platform, to nurture the next generation of leaders.   In the meantime, KUBS is ranked 1st in Korea and 68th worldwide in the 2018 Times Higher Education’s (THE) business and economics ranking. In the 2018 Best Global Universities Rankings for Economics and Business released by U.S. News & World Report, the business school also placed 1st in the nation and 98th in the world. The best business school in Korea selected by CEMS, the alliance of world-class business schools?  KUBS was ratified as a full academic member of CEMS Global Alliance A total of 30 academic institutions … Only one top business school per nation can join the alliance The only business school in Korea with full CEMS membership … Introducing CEMS Master’s in Management (MIM) which involves integrated professional practices   On Friday, November 27, Korea University Business School (KUBS) was ratified as a full academic member of CEMS, a global alliance of prestigious business schools worldwide. Only one top business school per nation is granted the membership. In other words, CEMS is the league of world’s best business schools, representing their countries.   As of today, a total of 30 universities are the members of the alliance, including △The London School of Economics and Political Science, △Keio University, △Tsinghua University, △National University of Singapore, and △The University of Sydney.   The CEMS Global Alliance is focused on providing the internship exchange program for students taking master’s courses from its member schools. The scheme of the exchange program is that each member school prepares a global internship program with one of its business-university partner companies and then, shares the program with other CEMS members. Through the alliance, students from the member schools are presented with opportunities to work as interns in world-renown, multinational companies, such as △McKinsey & Company, △Google, and △L’Oréal. To join the alliance, KUBS has recently signed an internship agreement with Hyundai Motors.    Joining the CEMS also means that KUBS will introduce the CEMS Master’s in International Management (MIM) degree program into its master’s degree courses. So far, KUBS has only offered a Master of Science degree course, which is mainly focused on academic theories and research. By adopting the MIM degree program, however, KUBS is expected to broaden the spectrum of its master’s program to provide more opportunities for professional practice and field experiences. Furthermore, the CEMS MIM program participants can apply for the exchange program to study abroad in the CEMS alliance member schools for up to two semesters. It seems that, with the CEMS MIM degree program opened, current KUBS students will have more options in making their career choice.  KUBS Dean Dong-One Kim said, “Becoming a full academic member of the alliance recognizes KUBS as the best business school in the nation, proving our global competitiveness as well. KUBS 110th Anniversary Event The event was held on Friday, October 30 at 18:00 … Delivering a keynote address by Chang-soo Huh, the chairman of FKI  The opening of KUBS Memorial Hall and the Wall of Honor were unveiled at 17:00.   On Friday, October 30 at 18:00, the KUBS "110th Anniversary Event" was held in the Supex Hall, LG POSCO Building at Korea University, Anam Campus. About 200 honored guests attended the commemorative event including, △KU President Jaeho Yeom △FKI Chairman Chang-soo Huh △KU Alumni President Seon-hoe Ju △KUBS Alumni Association President Wan-bae Rha. At this event, FKI Chairman Chang-soo Huh, KUBS entering class of 1967, delievered a keynote address under the theme of "Corporate Social Responsibility and Ethical Management."    The opening of 'KUBS Memorial Hall (KUBS STORY)' was unveiled at 17:00 before the anniversary event. KUBS is known as the longstanding business school among all university departments in Korea and KUBS STORY covers 110 years of KUBS history. The KUBS Memorial Hall is composed of six features, including △The First & the Best △The Leaders △Global Leaders △Professor Emeriti △World-Class Faculty, Programs and Facilities, and it is located on the first floor, Hyundai Motor Building. In addition, the historical records that have been donated by KUBS Professors Emeriti are displayed in the hall.      The Wall of Honor, engraved with a total of 419 contributors, was unveiled in the lobby on the first floor, KUBS Main Building at 17:30. The wall consists of four sections which are △Diamond (over five billion KRW) △Gold (over one billion KRW) △Silver (over 100 million KRW) △Bronze (over 10 million). KUBS is one of the departments that receives the most donations. △LG-POSCO Building △Hyundai Motor Building are the educational facilities, built with donations.      "Recognized as the best business school in Korea, KUBS has been producing numerous talented business leaders who led the Korean economic growth and history throughout the past century" said KUBS Dean Dong-One Kim.
