NHI (National Health Insurance)
All D-2 visa holders are automatically enrolled in the National Health Insurance (NHI) upon receiving their Alien Registration Card (ARC). This insurance provides the same medical benefits as those available to Korean citizens when visiting hospitals or clinics.
Details
After your ARC is issued, a health insurance card, sign-up notice, and billing statement will be mailed to your registered address in Korea. No separate registration process is required. Coverage under the NHI begins on the date of alien registration for first-time entrants.
Additional Recommendation
It is strongly recommended that students enter Korea with private health insurance that includes medical coverage in Korea. Please note that NHI coverage may not take effect immediately upon arrival and may not fully cover serious injuries or illnesses.
Guidelines for Student Visa (D-2-3) Application (Applicable only to Global MBA and Global MIM students)
A student visa (D-2-3) can be obtained at a Korean embassy or consulate in the applicant’s country of residence. The application requires several documents, including the Certificate of Admission (CoA), which will be issued by the International Affairs Team, as well as a Proof of Financial Statement (e.g., bank statement, admission scholarship certificate, etc.) to demonstrate sufficient financial resources for living expenses in Korea.
Please note that these documents may take time to be issued, and additional documents may be required depending on the embassy or consulate. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that students contact the relevant Korean embassy or consulate in their country well in advance to confirm the required documents and prepare accordingly to avoid processing delays.
Once the application is approved, the Korean embassy or consulate will issue a D-2-3 visa under the name of Korea University.
*Important Notice
Please note that students are not permitted to enter Korea with a K-ETA or a tourist visa, and entering the
Country with a K-ETA while your student visa is still being processed is also prohibited. You must complete
the visa application process and obtain your Student Visa before entering Korea to begin your studies at KUBS.
