Korea University is proud to announce the initiation of new online lectures for Freshman Seminar. These online lectures will replace the offline ones last semester. From this fall semester, all freshmen are required to complete assigned lectures anytime between October 1st and November 30th, 2014. Further instruction and information will be provided in September, 2014.   □ One credit can be earned fora set of lecturesrequiredeach semester of the first year. They must complete two credits (one credit per semester) within the first year.   □ Freshman Seminar consists of University Seminar and Departmental Seminar. Information on the Departmental Seminar can be found at each individual student’s department.   □ Assigned lectures for the University Seminar vary depending on colleges. Please see Appendix 1 (Required lectures by college) to find more information.   □ Any international student entering in fall 2014 should take the following three lectures for the University Seminar regardless of his/her major and college.    1. Course Registration and Orientation Details   As all of you are aware of, three day long orientation for new international students will be conducted on Monday, 23th August, Tuesday, 24th August and 25th. It will start with the “International Studies Briefing” at Inchon Memorial Hall at 9:30. It is more than strongly recommended that you be on time and attend all scheduled events. This will be a great help for your stay in Korea. Please refer to the orienataiton schedule attached with this mail. For the registration session on day two (24th), you MUST bring the photocopy of your passport and one passportsize photo. This is mandatory because the process for the whole ID card application can not be conducted if anyone of you misses one of those two documents.   I would like to re-confirm details regarding your initial procedures that you must undertake here. Course registration will be held on Monday to Friday (23th ? 27th August 2010). You may view the more detailed course information such as course descriptions on the English Homepage. Follow the link www.korea.edu -> academics -> courses. You can take up to 19 credits. If you want to take Korean language courses, you will go through the placement test on the first day of orientation. It is a good idea to think about the courses you want to take by referring to the course information before you arrive in Korea, however do not make a final decision on the courses that you will take for the moment because your schedule is subject to change depending on the level you will be placed in on the Korean language placement test or the number of the credits you will take for Korean language courses.
