[Center for Human Rights and Gender Equity] 2021 Human Rights and Gender Equity Legal·Compulsory Education Registration Guide   Korea University has provided Human Rights and Gender Equity Education to all members of KU since 2017 to enhance human rights sensitivity and to achieve gender equality on campus.    As compulsory education, all members of the campus must complete the course. Enrolled students are required to take the course once every year (4 times in total) for graduation.   The operation and course completion status of ‘Human Rights and Gender Equity Education’ are regularly checked through the audit process by Ministry of Education and annual education status reports by Ministry of Gender Equality and Family. Guidelines on Applying for Student-Designed Major in the 2021-2 Semester   ※ School Regulations: Constitution of Korea University, Chapter 4, Article 35(Classification of Majors) & Academic Operations Regulations Chapter 6, Article 3(Student-Designed Major) & Guideline for Student-Designed Major   The ‘Student-Designed Major’ is designed to accommodate the interests and career goals of students with broad interdisciplinary interests that cannot be satisfied within one of the traditional Korea University majors. Upon satisfying the graduation requirements of both first and Student-Designed Major, students with Student-Designed Major shall be conferred with the bachelor’s degree of each major. Curriculum of Student- Designed Major should be created by combining a minimum of three Korea University majors’ and must contain 36 major credits or more in total under the guidance of academic advisor of Student-Designed Major.   1. Eligibility: Under the Constitution of Korea University, Article 35, applicants should have registered for more than three semesters(those who do not have been designated their first major are ineligible). ※ Exchange students or students who apply for a Mid-semester leave of absence during the semester of application will be disqualified even after being announced as successful applicants.    2. Application Dates: April 1, 2021 (Thu) 10:00 ~ April 30, 2021 (Fri) 17:00   3. Students subject to this regulation must complete one of the following:      (1) Intensive Major course of first major, (2) Double Major, (3) Interdisciplinary Major, (4) Student-Designed Major.    2) Students who withdraw second major program before applying for Student-Designed Major and fail to enter the independent major, then they should take an intensive major course in their first major.    3) Intensive major course of first major assumes a similar form to the existing single major system.    4) Among successful applicants those only who retain applicants eligibility conditions during the application semester (ex. registration, approval of pre-taken courses, designation of Student-Designed Major courses, course registration) will be accepted to purse Student-Designed  Major from the following semester.

2021-1 CREDIT WITHDRAWAL REQUEST       1. Eligibility a. KU student who has earned 102(106) or more credits and registered 7 or more regular semesters. b. Transfer student with a BA degree, should be classified as 4th year student. c. student in senior year pursuing dual degree is not eligible.   2. Key Points a. Maximum 6 credits can be applied. b. Credit withdrawal is allowed only once during the entire school years. c. Courses have not yet evaluated should be counted out of bound. d. Any requisite courses (general education core courses, major core courses, college of education courses, etc) can not apply for credit withdrawal. e. On the academic transcript, “W” will be typed on the courses withdrawn instead of the original grades. f. Students can not apply for credit withdrawal for repeated courses. Upon withdrawal completed, the course cannot be repeated. g. Once course withdrawal is submitted it cannot be retracted.   3. Course range a. Courses taken before spring semester, 2014 b. Application Period: October 5, 2020 (Mon) 10:00 – October 7, 2020 (Wed) 17:00  ※ Note: Once the application fee is paid, you can proceed to an online application through KUPID (Refer to the details of 7.A. Payment Period below)   2. How to Apply: KUPID > Registration & Graduation > University Registration > Dual Degrees Application (Attachment of receipt of application fee is mandatory.) ※​​​​​​​No application can be accepted after the deadline (Please submit the application about an hour earlier just in case of system error when you apply) ※​​​​​​​ Failure to submit due to the system error is not allowed.   3. Eligibility A. Students who have completed at least 102 credit hours (34 credit hours for transferred students) B. Students with overall GPA of at least 2.50 (inclusive of F grades) C. Period of Degree Completion A. To complete dual degrees, students must enroll in 2 additional years to the period of study of their first major. (Note: 6 years for the Department of Architecture) B. KUBS will offer the following new major courses in 2021.   1) Financial Analytics (BUSS302) - offered in Spring 2021 - Course Overview:  This course is primarily designed for students who are knowledgeable on tools provided in Business Analytics 1 and have interests in their application to financial market analysis. The most important objective of the course is for students to get hands-on experience in mapping finance/statistical theory into data.   2) Social Value & Sustainability in Business (BUSS202) - offered in Spring 2021 - Course Overview:  This course discusses the meaning and importance of corporate social responsibility (CSR)/social values (CSV) and sustainablility in business. It also introduces real life cases in CSR/CSV activities to understand and seek improvement of the changes in our society that social values and sustainability management will bring into. In addition, based on CSV, CSR, and business ethics, this course provides opportunities for students to seek ways to create a social innovation ecosystem where large and small companies, for-profit and social enterprises, and theorists and practitioners collaborate.   3) Strategic Technology Commercialization (BUSS306) - offered in Spring 2021 - Course Overview:  This course covers the entire process of strategic technology commercialization that consists of identifying the lucrative technology opportunity, developing non-existent customers and subsequent target markets, and developing business models, feasibility study, risk factor analysis, startup valuation, and financial planning. The final team project requires students to team up with fellow students with heterogeneous resources to develop a full business plan.   - Note: If you have taken 'Topic Course(BUSS003)' with the same topic (전략적기술사업화, Strategic Technology Commercialization) as this course, you can not take BUSS306.   4) Social Value Project (BUSS301) - to be offered in Fall 2021 - Course Overview:  The objective of this course is to design and study business models that create social value. Especially in the process of developing the project, the students themselves utilize their knowledge from business major courses to embody business ideas based on social value. Also, in cooperation with team members, students can try to come up with a solution to urgent social issues of our time. In the process, future business leaders can have a chance to learn and practice ethical leadership.   - Note: The students who can take this course will be selected in spring semester. The course will cover general concepts in the data science and artificial intelligence fields, along with widely-accepted machine learning and deep learning algorithms. The focus will be on how the techniques are to be used in answering the business problems, and the details of the methodologies will be covered only to the extent necessary to understand when and how each technique can be used in the modern business context. Students will also acquire experience using software tools. This course will focus on the use of R software, which is the most popular data analytics tool in modern businesses.
