[General][세계지역연구소 Development Futures Lab] 연구프로젝트 관련 설명회 홍보 (Join KU DFL’s development data research initiati

2025.06.13 Views 21

Can artificial intelligence and natural language processing transform our understanding of global development? Korea University’s Development Futures Lab (DFL), led by Professor Cuz Potter, invites you to submit proposals for exploring how emerging technologies—like NLP, machine learning, and advanced data processing—can unlock new insights into international development cooperation and aid effectiveness. Funded by the UNDP Seoul Policy Centre, this project will select four teams of research residents to advance academic understanding of Official Development Assistance (ODA) through comprehensive analysis of its determinants, effects on donor countries, and relationships with other policy domains such as trade, investment, and diplomatic relations. Each team will propose its own ODA-related questions and develop methods to answer them that employ emerging data technologies. Teams might explore contemporarily relevant questions such as: What quantitative metrics best predict a project portfolio's vulnerability to donor funding cuts? How do data governance structures shape global aid flows? How can predictive analytics and digital transformation drive smarter development decisions? How do changes in donor countries' trade policies, migration policies, or climate commitments correlate with changes in their ODA patterns? Selected teams will work within an emerging ecosystem of researchers and practitioners to combine quantitative data analysis with policy relevance and interdisciplinary thinking in ways that will advance data-based decision making in the development sector. Each team can consist of one to three members and will receive KRW 6,000,000 in research funding to support their activities. Over a six-month project period, teams will work in an autonomous research setting to integrate multiple large datasets and produce actionable, policy-relevant findings. Before applications open, join our online Info Session to learn more about the project, application process, and how your research can shape the future of international development data. Info Session Schedule: Date: Wednesday, June 25, 2025   Time: 9:00 PM (Korea Standard Time) (to accommodate overseas participants)   Platform: Zoom (link will be sent to those who RSVP in advance) Register here: https://forms.gle/dRMpJcyDrnYMsF1X6   For more information about DFL, please visit our website:

[Academic]Submission of ID Photos for the 120th Anniversary Project of KUBS

2025.03.21 Views 750

To All New and Transfer Students of Korea University Business School,  Greetings. This is Hojung Shin, Chair of the KUBS 120th Anniversary Steering Committee.    First, I would like to once again extend my heartfelt congratulations to all new and transfer students on your admission to Korea University Business School (KUBS). I imagine you are beginning your first semester this March with a mix of excitement, anticipation, and perhaps a bit of nervousness.  The time you are spending now—together with your classmates, senior students, professors, and other members of the KUBS community—will become a valuable asset throughout your life. Even when you encounter challenges, I hope you will support one another, collaborate, and grow together.    May 5, 2025 marks not only the 120th anniversary of the founding of Korea University, but also the 120th anniversary of Korea University Business School, which traces its origins to the Department of Plutology (理財學) at Bosung College.  As Korea’s first institution to offer education in business administration, KUBS has led the development of business education in the country for the past 120 years and produced many talented graduates, playing a pivotal role in the fields of business and economics.    As part of the commemorative projects celebrating the meaningful 120th anniversary, KUBS plans to renew the existing tiger statue located at the entrance of KUBS STORY on the first floor of Hyundai Motor Hall. The current statue, created in 2015 when Hyundai Motor Hall first opened, was modeled after the image of freshmen at that time. For the renewal, we plan to incorporate the faces of the incoming class of 2025.  This symbolic piece will serve as a bridge between the many alumni who have contributed to KUBS’s remarkable achievements over the past 120 years and the incoming class of 2025, who will lead the school into the next 120 years. It is also intended to inspire future generations.  In this regard, we kindly ask you to submit a photo of yourself (if you are an incoming or transfer student) in image file format. The submitted photos will be used solely for the production of the renewed statue and will be handled in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act.  Please refer to the submission guidelines below.    Photo Submission Guidelines  - Target: All incoming and transfer students admitted to KUBS for the 2025 academic year  - Format: High-resolution individual photo (front-facing, ID-style photo recommended)  - Deadline: Thursday, March 27, 2025, by 17:00 (KST)  - Submission Method: Please email your photo file to kubs@korea.ac.kr, including the following information in your message: student ID/Full Name/Contact Number    Your interest and participation are essential to the completion of the updated KUBS STORY sculpture. We look forward to your contribution to this meaningful project.  All students who contribute to the project will receive special benefits, including an invitation to the 120th Anniversary Commemorative Event in May. We warmly encourage your active participation in this meaningful initiative.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the KUBS PR Team at 02-3290-1689 or via email at kubs@korea.ac.kr.  We sincerely thank all incoming and transfer students for your cooperation, and we extend our best wishes as you begin this exciting new chapter. We also kindly ask for your continued interest and support in the various upcoming events celebrating the 120th anniversary of KUBS.    Thank you.    March 19, 2025  Hojung Shin  Chair, KUBS 120th Anniversary Steering Committee.
