Under University Constitution and Regulations in Chapter 4, section3, Article 35(Interdisciplinary Major) & Academic Operations Regulation Chapter6, Section2, Article2 & Guideline for Interdisciplinary Major   The Interdisciplinary Major is an undergraduate degree program that combines or integrates 2 or more degree courses which may be established and managed upon satisfying the graduation requirements of 36~81 credits for the 1st major. Interdisciplinary Major is conferred with the bachelor’s degree of 2 majors from the list stated below.   Application Information 1. Application Process Applications are reviewed by the interdisciplinary major council and each department/school that applicants belong to. Applicants’ overall GPA (including F grade) is taken into consideration.   2. Eligibility ① Under the Constitution and Academic Regulations of Korea University, Article 35, applicants should have registered for more than three semesters(those whose first major have not been designated are ineligible) are eligible to apply for interdisciplinary major. * Students who are on leave of absence at the time of (or during the application period) will be disqualified even after being announced as successful applicants. ② Transfer students can apply after completing a minimum of one semester at Korea University. ③ Students on leave of absence are not eligible to apply. ④ Students who are already in the interdisciplinary major program are ineligible to apply. Also students who are pursuing a double major or engineering authentication certificate program are ineligible to apply unless students withdraw from the program before October 7, 2016.   3. Application Period 1) Applicants shall submit from October 12 until October 14 by 17:00. 2) Application is only accepted online at KU Portal -> Registration & Graduation -> Interdisciplinary Courses   4. Notes 1) The mandatory regulation of completing a second major is applied to students entering from 2004 onward. Student subject to this regulation must complete one of the followings; 1) intensive major course of first major 2)double major 3) interdisciplinary major 4)student-designed major. (Applicant who is transferred with a bachelor’s degree can choose not to complete a second major. 2) Students who withdraw second major program before applying for the interdisciplinary major and fail to enter this program should take an intensive course of the first major. 3) Intensive major course of 1st major assumes a similar form to the existing single major system. 4) Among successful applicants, those only who retain the eligibility conditions during the application semester (ie. Cognate Courses Approved as Core General Education “Core General Education Approval Policy," which approves a cognate course among major-related general education as a core general education, has been implemented by Institute for General Education at Korea University since 2010.   Thus, the following cognate courses below can be approved as core general education of the sub-area. The Office of International Affairs is organizing a Language Exchange Program between international students and Korean students for undergraduates on Anam Campus in Fall 2016. This program is for international students who would like to learn Korean, and for Korean students who wish to learn English or other foreign languages. It is a great opportunity for students to not only exchange language but also experience different cultures.   1. Program: 1:1 Language Exchange Program between International and Korean Students 2. Guidelines on Applying for Student-Designed Major in the 2017 Spring Semester   ※ School Regulations: Constitution of Korea University, Chapter 4, Article 35 (Classification of Majors) & Academic Operations Regulations Chapter 3 (Student-Designed Major) & Guideline for Student-Designed Major   The ‘Student-Designed Major’ is designed to accommodate the interests and career goals of students with broad interdisciplinary interests that cannot be satisfied within one of the traditional Korea University majors. Upon satisfying the graduation requirements of both first and Student-Designed Major, students with Student-Designed Major shall be conferred with the bachelor’s degree of each major. Curriculum of Student- Designed Major should be created by combining a minimum of three Korea University majors’ and must contain 36 major credits or more in total under the guidance of academic advisor of Student-Designed Major.   I. Application Information   1. Eligibility: Students who (1) have declared their first major, (2) have registered at least 3 semesters, and (3) are enrolled in Fall 2016. 2. Please see below for details of application procedure and assignment submission for “Internship Practice (BUSS463),” a course that grants academic credits for interning at a company in Korea.   Eligible applicants for Internship Practice, which will be offered during the fall term, are those who will be participating in an internship program starting September.   Please note that the “Operating Regulations of Internship for College Students (대학생 현장실습 운영규정)” has been enacted as of March 1, 2016 by the Ministry of Education. Please refer to the information below. 1. Process Internship MOU between KUBS and company → Preliminary approval of academic credit & application submission for approval  → Course registration → Internship à Assignment submission → Receiving a grade   2. Eligibility - The student who completed 4 or more semester (the students on a leave absence cannot apply for Internship Practice if they are interning during a regular semester). - The students who completed “Contemporary Business Etiquette Education” and “Gender Equality Education” sessions in Spring 2016. - The students who will begin their internship starting September. 3. Highlights of “Operating Regulations of Internship for College Students (대학생 현장실습 운영규정)” by Ministry of Education 1) The Internship must be operated with practice experience that is related to students’ major, including on-the-job training. 2) The Internship must not exceed 8 hours of work per day and 40 hours of work per week. 3) The night shift of the Internship from 22:00 to 06:00 cannot be operated. 4) The Intern must be guaranteed breaks and annual leaves. For the one-month (or more) Internship, two days of annual leave must be provided. 5) The Internship during summer/winter vacation must be operated for at least four weeks. 6) The Internship salary must be provided. 7) The Internship without approval by the University will not be accepted. 8) Short-term internships, such as volunteer work, tour, and field trip, will not be accepted. 9) Students who have completed at least 4 semesters at the University are eligible for the Internship. 10) Academic credits will be applied to the semester students completed the Internship. 2.  Application for Program-based Scholarship [Entrepreneurship Academy] - Second Round 1. Introducing Program-based Scholarship The Program-based Scholarship helps KU students become a talented individual with the university’s unique competitiveness. The scholarship aims to enhance academic and research performance, develop self-development and self-planning skills, and nurture intelligent talents. The Program-based Scholarship business has been selected in Fall 2016 by establishing Entrepreneurship Academy program which is focused on nurturing challenge-driven entrepreneurs.   2. Purpose and Goals of Entrepreneurship Academy The purpose of the Entrepreneurship Academy is to develop innovative educational infrastructure where “challenge-driven entrepreneurs" will be raised. To achieve this, the Entrepreneurship Academy will (i) nurture leaders with entrepreneurial spirit through education on success cases of venture business, and (ii) provide creative/integrated education consists of various studies, such as technology, society, and culture. 3. Entrepreneurship Academy  The Entrepreneurship Academy allows students to obtain information on their fields of interests (e.g. investment, establishment of company, tax accounting, etc.) through special lectures. They can also cultivate creativity and openness by participating in open seminars and building a network with startup mentors. There will be a total of three activities, and participants will be divided into two groups.   The first group will participate in Activities (1)-(2). The second group will participate in Activities (1)-(2)-(3). (1) Open Seminar • Senior and junior mentors in related fields of startup and entrepreneurial innovation will be invited to the Open Seminar every once a month. Students will have an opportunity to receive advice on current trends and startup strategy as well as building a network which is important for their startup business. Also, prospective entrepreneurs can find solutions to their concerns. • The schedule is as follows. The lectures will be 8 hours in total.    (3) Startup Express (Startup Competition) Students must participate in the Startup Express (expected to be held in December) hosted by Institute for Startup Business (tentatively named) at KUBS. Thus, the corresponding students are required to submit their application for the Startup Express. The winning teams have an opportunity to move into the Iljin Startup Incubation Center and receive the budget for operating expenses.   4. Eligibility 1) Students who have earned a total of at least 102 credit hours (at least 34 credit hours for transfer students) 2) Students who has a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above including “F” grades 3) Students currently enrolling in Fall 2016 (those who have already been approved to pursue a dual degree cannot re-apply) However, expected officers of ROTC are not eligible to apply based on Article 8 of the “Military Personnel Management Act” 2. Applicable Departments 1) Students may apply for a dual degree program regardless of their first major.
