From December 1, 2025, to March 29, 2026, total pledges reached KRW 4,652,317,231, with 324 participants, including corporations, alumni, faculty, staff, and students.       | Three major pledges secured … Alumni and corporations join forces    One of the most notable achievements is the securing of three major pledges. An anonymous donor pledged support for the research fund, Eugene Investment & Securities Co., Ltd. for the development fund, and Samyang Tongsang for scholarships. Alumni account for approximately 62% of total pledges, while corporations represent about 35%, jointly driving the campaign forward.   Group donations have also continued. Participation spans from alumni who entered in the 1970s to current students from the Class of ’26, as well as members of EMBA, DBA, and AMP programs, undergraduate alumni, and even alumni from the College of Medicine. From individual research labs and faculty bands to student councils, all corners of the Business School are actively engaging with the campaign, further broadening its base of participation.   This campaign is particularly meaningful in that it places value not only on the total amount raised but also on participation itself. From small contributions starting at KRW 10,000 to major gifts reaching KRW 1 billion, every act of giving becomes part of the shared legacy of KUBS’s 120-year history.    | Investing in the future campus… Advancing the 3C Trading Zone and 4Tech strategy    The funds raised are being used to realize the Business School’s future vision. Alongside the advancement of the “4Tech Strategy,” centered on AI, semiconductors, energy, and robotics, spatial innovation projects are also taking shape.   The Business School is already operating AI-focused tracks and 4Tech micro-degree programs, and continues to expand its educational and research capabilities with its largest-ever full-time faculty body of 95 members.   On the basement level of Hyundai Motor Hall, the “3C Trading Zone (tentative name)” is currently under development, with a trading demo day scheduled for early May. The space will also include an Art & Culture Room. Artist Uhm Jung-soon’s installation piece, K, the Noseless Elephant, has already been installed in the building.   Construction has also begun on an LED display in the lobby of LG-POSCO Hall, which will serve as a large-scale digital donor wall. An opening ceremony is scheduled following the conclusion of the campaign in May.   Dean Eonsoo Kim stated, “We have come this far thanks to the collective support of each and every member,” adding, “We hope more people will join us on this journey as we prepare for the next 120 years of the Business School.”   The “KUBS 120 MARCH” campaign will continue through May 31, 2026. Donations can be made via the official sponsorship page (box.donus.org/box/koreauniversity/KUBS120march).   As of December 1, 2025 – March 29, 2026 | Total pledged amount: KRW 4,652,317,231

CPA Mentoring Seminar, the best support for young generation

CPA Mentoring Seminar, the best support for young generation On July 9th (Tue), KUBS Career Development Center hosted 'CPA Mentoring Seminar’ at Hyundai Motor Hall. The seminar covered student’s live questions and inquiries about KICPA (Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountant) exam and the businesses of the accounting firm. Two currently active CPAs, Daehoon Kim (KPMG, KUBS06) and Jinhyung Kim (Deloitte, KUBS07), participated in the seminar to give a generous advice to undergraduates who have interests in becoming an accountant.   Seminar went through the two separated sessions, in order to distribute the topic of the Q&As. The first session covered the questions about preparing the CPA exam, and the second half was made up of the inquiries in accountant’s jobs and tasks at the business scene. At first, Jinhyung Kim pointed out his past motivation for the CPA exam, explaining as “After the military service period, I have begun to find my own strength, not depending on the college education’s name value. Therefore, I decided to prepare CPA exam that I can guarantee my own expertise in market and my future income stability”. About the exam, Daehoon Kim shared his study know-how and experience, saying “I began studying from summer vacation period and considered the first-time exam as a practice, then I made a short-term objective to enter into Jungjincho (KUBS CPA-exam group). To mitigate the anxiety, I didn’t throw the practice sheets away and stored them. Also, I recorded my studying hours respectively per exam subjects. In addition, I searched for the online courses which exactly match my own learning style. My preparation period began relatively earlier than others since I started studying at the beginning of my military service period. Also, I believe that planning a strategic studying schedule rather than hastening myself to achieve an early success was the major source to win the exam”.   In the next session, two speakers provided information of CPA’s career, after getting the license. Jinhyung Kim explained, “There are 3 divisions in an accounting firm. Basically there are Auditory division, FA division which handles M&A businesses and real estate value estimations and finally the Tax division that manages tax investigation issues and tax affairs”. Daehoon Kim replied on the question asking about CPA’s high rate of job transfer, saying “In my opinion, it is better to stay at accounting firm if you have anything left to learn about the business. Considering the successful transfer cases that I know, people leave the office when they start thinking ‘Now I don’t have any learning points in the firm’”. One student asked about the general outlook of CPA as a job, and Jinhyung Kim answered “Honestly it is a saturated market. It is certain that CPA’s job market can’t elude from getting rigidity while the Korean economy shows negative trend of growth. It is quite definite that CPA’s job market following the macro-economic index”. Daehoon Kim commented “But since accounting and taxation market are not really dynamic compared to other sectors, the market will keep its stability in a good momentum”. The seminar took over two hours, CPA mentors sincerely sharing their wide range of experiences and knowledges for the undergraduate mentees. The event was successfully ended with Daehoon Kim’s remark, saying “I feel honored coming to campus and to meet those undergraduate students who have huge potentials. I hope this seminar helps their exam preparation and career growth”.

Yoohee Kim (KUBS15), Doyoung Ahn(KUBS15) and Sunhyung Yoo (KUBS15) wins the “Research Challenge Comp

Yoohee Kim (KUBS15), Doyoung Ahn(KUBS15) and Sunhyung Yoo (KUBS15) wins the “Research Challenge Competition” hosted by Korea Investment & Securities Co., LTD. We have a good news that three KUBS undergraduates, Yoohee Kim(KUBS15), Doyoung Kim(KUBS15) and Sunhyung Yoo(KUBS15) have received the top awards from the “Research Challenge Competition” hosted by one of the largest Korean financial institution, Korea Investment & Securities Co., LTD (“The Institution”). The Institution targets to discover the new, promising financial analysts in the campus via “Research Challenge Competition” and to support their future growth. The competition was successfully operated as a second-time opening following the last year, gathering 151 challengers (the number increased by 48% compared to 2018) The award ceremony was held on June 13th (Thu), at Korea Investment & Securities Co’s headquarter located in Yeoi-do. Based on the direct evaluation by senior analysts from the institution, the awards were given to 4 teams (8 people) and one individual who made the out-performing final report and the presentation. All 9 winners get an option to apply in the institution’s internship (permanent transfer type) in second half of 2019. After finishing the internship with an extraordinary result, they may choose to take the final interview to become a permanent employee of the firm.   Interview with Awarde     대상 수상의 김유희(경영15), 안도영(경영15)   1. Why did your team choose Korean Air as a research subject? KIS research challenge is a presentation competition covering the business analysis & investment strategy. For business analysis part, 3 corporate options were given to the team, and each team may choose its firm to take a research on. We decided to choose Korean Air since we thought that it might be the best option to collect the most recent data and make the firm’s future earnings expectation. Considering other two corporates, Netmarble and Amorepacific, weren’t good enough to build up a logical research strategy given the limitations in sourcing the data. We wrote the report by organizing the data of Korean Air’s international skyline sales growth, in order to focus on the fundamentals rather than the short-term issues. 2. Please leave us your comment on receiving the award. And please let us know the secret of your winning mentality. Both of us actively participated in RISK, the value stock research group in KUBS and we are used to doing research on diverse topics of various corporates. Plus, we had time advantages since both of us were on temporary absence on school. We did daily meeting in April, never missed a day structuring the analysis flow, collecting and sourcing the data. Especially, the reason we achieved extra high points on creativity score at the final decision, will be because of our hard work on discovering our own perspective on the Korean Air’s earnings trend. For the further analysis on the financial state and valuation, we approached via regional, RPK and yield calculation and those supported our research a lot. It was a highly rewarding experience, accomplishing what we have targeted, and the output is so sweet.   (우)금상 수상의 유선형(경영15)   1. Please specify the details of your research contents. I made a business analysis report of the firm ‘Korean Air’. The main factors that we considered while picking up the subject were; 1) the importance of macro analysis such as commodity price, FX, rates considering the key features of airline industry 2) opportunity to make an in-depth analysis on the new finance & accounting issue “IFRS 16”. Therefore, we tried to expand the conventional research pools such as basic valuation methods into wider dimension, so that we can get an alpha score on our research. Furthermore, the competitor firm Asiana’s issue or Hanjin Kal related news were also became our interest point preparing the final report. 2. Please leave us your comment on receiving the award. We physically lived in Anam, Seoul but spent time in Paris (worked overnight) everyday, spending most of our days in 24 hours café around the campus. It was pretty hard challenge but rewardable as we have put a lot of effort into it. For me, the reward has an extra significance since I’ve developed myself a lot in RISK in recent one and a half year. At the first time I joined RISK, I had zero information in 'Stock’ or ‘Equity’, but I suddenly became a team head and vice president of RISK, finally paving a way to become a winning analyst of KIS challenge. I would like to appreciate all of my team members making greatest works for this competition, and every RISK member who gave us bunch of mental & physical support. Thank you all again!
