KUBS Tops the Nation's MBA Survey For Seven Consecutive Years

KUBS Tops the Nation's MBA Survey For Seven Consecutive Years     Korea University Business School (Dean=Jae Wook Kim) was ranked No. 1 in the 2019 National MBA Survey. This survey is conducted annually by the HanKyung Business and asks HR managers from the top 300 companies in Korea; KUBS has remained firmly on top of the throne for seven years. KUBS has not missed the No. 1 spot since 2013 when HanKyung Business first started its MBA survey in Korea, and this again proved that the KUBS has the best MBA program in Korea. This year's assessment targeted 15 universities: 13 schools that have been already certified by the Ministry of Education and 2 new schools, KAIST and Sejong University respectively. The survey was conducted by ranking six categories of △preference for recruitment △development potential △organizational cohesion △globalization △professionalism and △entrance recommendation. The total score of KUBS was 4,308 points. Among the six evaluation categories, KUBS ranked first by a high margin in the category of △development potential and △organizational cohesion. KUBS each time has dominated other universities in organizational cohesion. In particular, KUBS ranked first with a very large margin of 283 points with SNU MBA, the second-highest school in organizational cohesion. It shows that KUBS graduates adapt well to new organizations and establish effective and cooperative relationships with their members. In addition, KUBS ranked first with 690 points, higher than SNU MBA (612 points) in development potential. Meanwhile, Yonsei University MBA remained in third place as last year, showing strong performance in globalization sector. Fourth place went to KAIST MBA. SKK GSB ranked fifth, finishing second in organizational cohesion. The top six to ninth places went to Sogang University with 2,488 points, Hanyang University with 2,155 points, Chung-Ang University with 1,452 points and Ewha Womans University with 1,063 points – the same ranking as last year. KUBS Alumni, the Largest Ratio Among Korea’s Top 100 Company CEOs Korea University Business School (Dean Soo Young Kwon) is proud to announce that KUBS turned out to has the largest ratio of alumni among current CEOs at 100 most influential companies in Korea, compared to other faculties at Korean universities. The statistics is a part of the CEO evaluation section from ‘2018 Analysis and Evaluation of Korea’s Top 100 CEO & Business’ released by the Korea Economic Daily Business. In particular, KUBS achieved the top rank as a single faculty for two years in a row, affirming its position as the best business school in Korea.   According to the statistics, there are a total of 27 out of 100 CEOs who were majoring in business administration during their bachelor’s degree studies. Among the 27, seven are KUBS alumni and it is the largest proportion as a single faculty at Korean universities. The number of business bachelor’s graduates from Seoul National University came after KUBS with four alumni out of 100. Sungkyunkwan University and Yonsei University had the next best rankings with three and two alumni each.   The list of seven KUBS alumni who are current CEOs at 100 best companies in Korea are △Cheol Young Lee; Vice Chairman & CEO of Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance (Business ’71) △In-Young Lee; President and CEO of Hanon Systems (Business ‘76) △Dae Cheol KIM; CEO of Hyundai Development Company (Business ‘77) △Young Ho Lee; President & CEO of Samsung C&T Corporation, Engineering & Construction Group (Business ‘78) △Sang Shin Pak; CEO of Daelim Industrial Co., Ltd (Business ‘81) △Jung Ho Park; President & CEO of SK Telecom (Business ‘82) △Shin-Ho Kang; Co-Representative Director of CJ Cheiljedang Corporation (Business ‘81).   Followed by the largest number of CEOs at the top 100 companies being business graduates, the next most frequent undergraduate majors the CEOs studied were △Chemical Engineering (6) △Law (5) △English Literature (5) △Electronic Engineering (5) △Economics (4) △public administration (4).   Dean Soo Young Kwon commented, “I am very proud of the result. KUBS, “Indisputable No. 1” for 10 Consecutive Years in National Business School Assessment Korea University Business School (KUBS) is ranked first for the tenth consecutive year in the 2017 National Business School Assessment annually conducted by Hankyung Business. KUBS secured its top spot since 2008 and stood at the leading position among business schools in Korea.     ▲Photo=Hankyung Business​ This year’s assessment was surveyed by HR directors of the top 200 companies in 2017, mutually selected by NICE Group and Hankyung Business. The survey was carried out on 55 business schools whose number of admission-accepted students is 100 or more. The assessment was analyzed by Global Research based on nine performance categories: △Job adaptability, △Compatibility with organization, △Development potential, △Creative problem-solving skills, △Globalization system, △Diligence and responsibility, △Recruitment for new employees, and △Entrance into Graduate School.   Of the nine indicators, KUBS demonstrated excellence in △Job adaptability and △Diligence and responsibility. Particularly, the business school outperformed Sungkyunkwan University, which placed second in the assessment, in the job adaptability category with a margin of more than 100 points. KUBS also maintained the top position in the diligence and responsibility category.   Hankyung Business highly praised the efforts of the business school for having 83 professors, Korea’s largest and unbeatable faculty size, and making bold investments in its start-up institute, an independent operating platform, to nurture the next generation of leaders.   In the meantime, KUBS is ranked 1st in Korea and 68th worldwide in the 2018 Times Higher Education’s (THE) business and economics ranking. In the 2018 Best Global Universities Rankings for Economics and Business released by U.S. News & World Report, the business school also placed 1st in the nation and 98th in the world.
