Farewell KUBS, home of my heart! Off to real world

On February 25, the 2015 KUBS Commencement Ceremony was held at Inchon Memorial Hall. Dean Dong-One Kim, Wan-bae Rha (President of KUBS Alumni Association; Business Administration, ’70), Dong-Ki Shin (Vice President of Korea MBA (KMBA) Alumni Association), and Sang Jin Park (President of Executive MBA (EMBA) Alumni Association) were present at the ceremony. The graduating KUBS students in caps and gowns filled the auditorium in Inchon Memorial Hall. In addition, their families sat on the second floor of the auditorium to celebrate graduation.
A total of 755 students graduated in the Spring and Fall, including undergraduate, M.S./Ph.D., KMBA, EMBA, S³ Asia MBA (AMBA), and Global MBA (GMBA) programs. The commencement ceremony began as ROTC holding the KUBS flag walked up to the stage leading a group of KUBS professors dressed up in caps and gowns, of which was led by Dean Dong-One Kim. After the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of the national anthem, Associate Dean Hosun Rhim and Associate Dean Myeong-Hyeon Cho reported on undergraduate and graduate school, respectively. KUBS set a new record in various evaluation indexes in Korea and abroad with the total graduates of 19,315 in undergraduate and 7,710 in graduate school. Dean Dong-One Kim said, “The study of Business Administration is not to accumulate one’s wealth but to create a healthy community. With that being said, one has an obligation to society.” He continued, “I hope all of you will become leaders with positive influence and knowledge.” Moreover, Wan-bae Rha, president of the KUBS Alumni Association, said, “Fulfilling one’s role is a first step to contribute toward society.” He also emphasized, “Keep challenging yourself with broaden perspectives and deep thoughts.”

The award ceremony for students who were recognized for their academic excellent was held. △Seoyeon Son (Bachelor of Business Administration, ’09) and △ Kyu-Sang Hwang (KMBA, ’14) were awarded the President’s List, while △Bina Ok (KMBA, ’13) △Myeongseon Chung (KMBA, ’14), △Taeyoung Shin (EMBA, ’12), and △Tobias Uwe Simanowski (AMBA, 7th Batch) were placed on the Dean’s List. After the award ceremony, Seoyeon Son gave an address on behalf of the graduating students. She said, “I will never forget the time where my college classmates and I did a research and team project together until the school was closed.” Seoyeon also added, “As I have been taught, I will become a mature leader with an open heart.” After the address, the presentation of diplomas went off. The diplomas were handed out by Dean Dong-One Kim. Associate Dean Myeong-Hyeon Cho and other research supervisors celebrated and encouraged their students. The commencement ceremony ended by throwing graduation caps and singing the university song.
The number of degree recipients in 2015 are as follows: △428 undergraduate students, △56 MS students, △21 PhD students, △178 KMBA students, △56 EMBA students, △14 AMBA students, and △2 GMBA students.
