KUBS has produced the greatest number of ‘Owner Entrepreneur’ as a single department…The cradle of CEOs in Korea.
On the basis of a survey of 239 domestic businesses,
it has been proved that 17 people among 214 owner entrepreneurs graduated from Korea University Business School.

It has become known that KUBS has produced the largest number of owner entrepreneurs as a single department.
When the Korea CXO Institute analyzed the owner entrepreneurs at the level of chairmen of 239 major domestic groups, it has been found that the total number of owner entrepreneurs who graduated from KUBS is seventeen, which is regarded as the biggest number as a single department.
Yonsei University School of Business (14 graduates) and Seoul National University School of Law (6 graduates) followed. The owner entrepreneurs who graduated from our Business School include Huh, Chang Soo of GS Group, Christopher Koo (Koo Ja-yeol) of LS Group, Park, Mun Deok of HITEJINRO Co., Ltd, Cho Nam-ho of Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction Holdings, Yoon Kim of Samyang Holdings Corporation and Vice Chairman Chung Ui-Seon of Hyundai Motor Company.
It has been announced that Seoul National University (47 business owners) is at the top of the list for having produced owner entrepreneurs, followed by Korea University (27 owner entrepreneurs) and Yonsei University (26 owner entrepreneurs).
According to surveys, the top major at universities that owner entrepreneurs have chosen is Business Administration (66 graduates – 30.8%), followed by Economics (15 graduates), Law (12 graduates) and Public Administration (6 graduates).
It is indicated that those who majored in business administration·economics·commerce and trade account for 46.8% (89 graduates), followed by graduates of natural sciences & engineering accounting for 27.4% (52 graduates) and graduates of humanities & social sciences (including arts & physical education) accounting for 25.8% (49 graduates).
In particular, it is impressive that owner entrepreneurs who graduated from our Business School belong to sports associations. The Chairman of Hyundai Development Company Mong-Gyu Chung is the president of the Korea Football Association (KFA); Chairman of Heesung Group Koo Bon-neung is the President of Korea Baseball Organization (KBO); Vice Chairman of Hyundai Motor Company Chung Ui-Seon is the President of Korea Archery Association; Chairman of LS Group Christopher Koo (Koo Ja-yeol) is the President of Korea Cycle Federation; and Chairman of Halla Group Chung Mong-won is the President of Korea Ice Hockey Association. The Chairman of GS Group Huh, Chang Soo is also the owner of FC Seoul. Chairman Koo Bon-neung was the former baseball player, whose role was the outfielder in middle school, and Chairman Christopher Koo (Koo Ja-yeol) is well known that he won the first Asian title to complete Trans Alps, which implies he has reached full maturity in his abilities.
CXO chief O Il-sun in charge of surveys mentioned, “Owner entrepreneurs who graduated from Korea University Business School have a special interest towards sports.” “It can be inferred that their strong will, endurance, challenge spirit, organizational capability and strategy can be applied to management,” he added.
