Korea University Business School Career Development Center(CDC) has been chosen as the winner of '2015 National Brand Awards' in the career development service sector for three years in a row. The awards ceremony was held in Christal Ball Room, Sogongdong Lotte Hotel, Seoul, on April 3rd at 10:30am.
National Brand Awards, hosted by the National Brand Committee, is considered as the most honorary award in the brand survey area. This year, the award was sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the Economist, and Joongang Ilbo. The survey was conducted from February 13th to 23rd and targeted at consumers aging from 16 using 6 criteria - Awareness, Representativeness, Satisfaction, Loyalty, Global Competitiveness, and Overall Affinity - for the evaluation. In this survey, the KUBS CDC established itself as the provider of distinguished, high quality career service.
Korea University Business School runs its own Career Develeopment Center and offers customized career services to MBA as well as undergraduate students. The CDC fully supports students to achieve their career goals and successfully get employed. It also actively introduces talented people to companies.
One of the most outstanding career services offered by the CDC is the 'Mentoring program', utilizing its extensive alumni networks to connect professors, alumni, and students together. In addition to this program, the CDC also offers opportunities for students to meet the alumni woking in the same sector that the students wish to work for in the future. It helps students to learn the values and virtues as future business leaders and to get invaluable advice for their study, career and employment. According to Eunjung Jung (Business Administration '13), "Thanks to the Mentoring program managed by the CDC, I could meet an entrepreneur alumnus who had experience in developing mobile applications and get advice from him. After that, I could come up with concrete career plans and start working as an intern at a start-up, laying foundations for my future career in service planning sector." She also mentioned, "The Mentoring program provided by the CDC was a turning point for me to move beyond daydreaming and challenge myself to pursue my dream for a start-up."
The CDC also provides fully individualized(customized) career development program. Undergraduates can benefit from a well organized 4-step career advancement program by graduation. Freshmen can take classes to write a proposal for their career development, and can also participate in a wide variety of seminars. In addition to this, special alumni talks, panel talks, internships and recommendations for hiring are all available to senior students. Furthermore, the CDC offers specialized programs for students to accumulate specific abilities for management, finance, and consulting. Along with these opportunities, students can also have domestic and international internship experience to be the next global talents.
As for MBA students, most of whom looking for career changes, customized career consulting programs are offered even before matriculation. Ranging from basic preparations including resume updates, job interview trainings, special talks by CEO and corporate experts to after-graduation follow-ups such as networking and employment assistance programs, various programs are offered by the CDC.
Dean of KUBS Dong-one Kim commented, "Korea University Business School is the only school that operates its own career development center, systematically manages and supports careers of students. We will fully support our students to be future global leaders with considerations for social responsibilities."
