“From admission to employment” Career Consulting Management, KUBS CDC

It is important to set up the future career goal because, students that were too busy preparing for the college entrance exams may feel hopeless when planning for the college life. There are cases where students graduate without being able to construct a personal future plan.
KU Business School has the Career Development Center, a place for students to alleviate the concerns or problems. Career Development Center is a place that provides personalized career development programs for undergraduate and MBA student. On a 1:1 basis, the career counsels coaching, writing resume, interview cleaning, mentoring programs, lectures and etc at a notable progress.
Career Development Center offers a variety of programs on college and career exploration through close cooperation with other departments on campus. Moreover, Career Development Center continues to develop its career service and programs to provide a more practical help to the students. Out of everything, the Career Development Center helps by systematically analyzing the problems of undergraduates and graduate students.
■ The undergraduate program is divided into four tracks and they have a step-by-step career development programs.
The four tracks are done from undergraduate to graduate and are done by grade. They are self- discovery, career discovery, career design, and skill building phase. Through this method, the students will explore careers in various fields since the lower grades will be configured to meet the aptitude which leads to finding the career.
Upon enrolling at the College of Business, the students are given "KUBS Life Guide Book", a book that introduces the school campus as well as information about the course designs. Moreover, the students are invited to attend lectures done by seniors, active in business, who present information on what field is in progress.
In the first to second year, the students conduct an MBTI personality test because it helps in determining the future career options. The result of the test provides an opportunity to talk with professional advisors who then provide example career paths for the students to follow. Also the students attend a lecture done by the CEO of headhunting company who talks about various career information.
The mentoring program that connects the commerce alumni working in the industry and the current students is offered to the second and fourth year students. Also, "Mentor-and-Mentee Gathering Day" is hold for the current students to get the advice for the career and resume building as well as the information of the industrial facts and trends.
For students in the third to fourth year who are seriously preparing for work, peer lecture and panel talk method is used to talk about genera, financial, and consulting. Peers with the similar majors are divided into small groups for a more concentrated and liberal conversations. Also third and fourth year students can attend nation-wide and international internship program for a credit in field training.
Finally, graduating students get hired by recommendation through the student support programs from school-wide and national institution
The Student Support Center recommends students for specific positions that companies need by direct connection. The Student Support Center then sets up the schedule for the student for employment.
■Providing MBA personal/professional career consulting program
Most of students of MBA have more than two years of job experience. In fact, they have four years-experience on average. Due to this fact, professional programs for career developments and transitions are hold for MBA students.
Career Development Center helps students understand what they need for their goal and intensifies their capability while they are attending university. Also, Career Development Center helps students start the preparation of new job by updating the resume.
In addition, the opportunity to experience the role of manager in a company is provided right after graduating. From before enrollment to after graduating and acquiring a job, curriculum, faculties, Career Development Center and alumni work together to provide a career-consulting program by plan. The plan consist of operate programs for develop and supervise career, it also build capacity, and it develops social network. They also send the Resume Book composed of students' resumes to the outstanding companies in the country.
