2021 Fall Semester’s 4th Career Week, hosted by KUBS (Dean= Bae, Johngseok) Career Development Center was held on December 3rd(Friday). The event was composed of two sessions, first a special lecture on corporates and second on employment, while students who signed up for the event could watch the lecture broadcasted live on Zoom.

The first special lecture on corporates was given by the Manager of Naver, Jinwook Hwang. Manager Hwang focused on the introduction of Naver throughout the lecture. The lecture proceeded in the order of ‘Naver General Status’, ‘Story of Naver Growth’, ‘Naver as a workplace’, and ‘Q&A’.

Manager Hwang introduced the start of Naver’s ‘Global Expansion’ from 2010 and mentioned Naver Webtoon which entered the global market in 2014. With the example of a Naver employee who carried forward the webtoon service in 2004, he said, “In a company, boldness is necessary,” and “Don’t be afraid to fail, but carry on with it if you feel certain.” Also he mentioned the Naver Webtoon ‘Sweet Home’ and ‘Hellbound(Jiok)’ as the example of becoming a drama series by Netflix and explained the revenue model through ‘One Source Multi Use’ in which one piece of work is created in multiple different types of contents.

Next, Manager Hwang talked about another successful business model, Naver Shopping. He explained the reason why Naver Shopping currently has high market share with the ‘Smartstore service’ where SME(Small and Medium Enterprise) can create their own online shopping mall easily and low commission rate compared to other companies.

Finally, Manager Hwang introduced the detailed jobs of Naver through the interviews of 5 current Naver employees. He emphasized that “The common ground for the most critical ability at work was communication skills.” Also, he said “A flexible attitude and the understanding of the company and the job objective is critical.” He ended the lecture by saying useful tips when preparing to join Naver and mentioning contents of interviews done by 5 people currently working at other platforms.

The second special lecture on employment was given by the CEO and Chairman of ‘Lee Woo Gon HR Research Center’ Woogon Lee. Mr. Lee focused on the topic of ‘Preparing for AI Recruitment Process’ and ‘Occasional Recruitment Preparation Strategies’.

Mr. Lee said “AI Recruitment Process brought the algorithm of Person-Environment Correspondence Theory,” and “It analyzes how well one’s characteristics and job description reasonably fit together.” He mentioned Howard Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences and Career preference test as ways to predict the correspondence.

Furthermore, Mr. Lee said “the different types of motivation algorithm which divides into achievement or stability are also part of the AI Recruitment Process.” He said that “the satisfaction from the job affects the employment period and work accomplishment greatly,” and emphasized that “You should think about whether you feel satisfied when you accomplish something, or when you feel stable.”

Chairman Lee commented that “AI Recruitment Process is currently just at the launching stage, so it is used for reference for evaluation,” and “it serves the purpose of saving time by eliminating the bottom 30%.”

Lastly, chairman Lee introduced the evaluation guidelines during AI interviews. ‘V4’ means the △Vision Analysis △Voice Analysis △Verbal Analysis △Vital Analysis and he encouraged students to consider these points when preparing for the interview. Chairman Lee also emphasized that “It is important to practice taking a breath between sentences and fixing your gaze at the camera,” before ending the lecture.
