Information Session for Spring 2020 Outbound Exchange Students
On June 4th (Tue) at 3:00pm in LG-POSCO Building, KUBS had an information session for Spring 2020 semester’s outbound exchange students. The session was held with the following contents: △Introduction of previous exchange student case △Information of KUBS exchange program △Release of partner university list △Eligibility and application timeline △ Notice of required documents for application △ Q&A.
At the beginning, Changui Hong (KUBS13) reviewed his prior experience from KUBS exchange program, saying “KUBS exchange period is a sweet dream for students who are exhausted with busy time table in KU. Everyone will be satisfied with this program, not only enjoying their free time in foreign countries but also achieving a mental growth”.
Next, staff from KUBS international department introduced a big picture of KUBS exchange program via its presentation. KUBS operates its own outbound exchange program which transfers 120~170 students abroad, to 102 universities worldwide. This year, University of Melbourne located in Australia have affiliated new partnership with KUBS and got huge interest from many students. University of Melbourne is involved in top 100 business schools in the world, and Spring 2020 will be the first semester that KUBS students go abroad for study. Furthermore, since Korea University international department (not only Business School) also has the partnership with University of Melbourne, there is an additional advantage to study abroad together with other department students in KU. Plus, Western University in Canada and University of Warwick in UK, which well-known as a commanding campus in North America and England also attracted focus from the students.
For the eligibility, (1) The applicant needs to achieve average GPA of 3.0, in two previous semester -excluding Summer/Winter semester & Absence period - in KUBS. (2) The Spring 2020 semester, which will be the exchange period, cannot be the applicant’s last semester before the graduation. (3) The applicant will be able to choose to apply in 5 university in total, but up to 3 in America/UK region. (4) The applicant who already has prior experience participating in exchange program in America/UK region is not able to apply again. The applicant who experienced in other region, is not allowed to re-apply in same country. (5) The exchange period will be one semester in general, but it can be extended accordingly to the discussion with KUBS international department.
The deadline for application is July 22nd (Mon), 11:50am by online, and paper submission before 4pm. Interview is scheduled from August 1st (Thu) to August 2nd (Fri), and candidate announcement will be completed in August. The final candidates will have orientation session in August 29th (Thu). Orientation session is mandatory, so candidate who does not attend will be rejected from participating into the entire program.
The grading criteria for the candidate selection is formed of document screening (40%); GPA of two previous semester and certified English score, and interview score (60%).
