“The 2022 12th KUBS Teen Mentoring Day” for Future KUBS Students

 

The 12th KUBS Teen Mentoring Day held by KUBS(Dean=Johngseok Bae) was held on February 12th(Tue). The event was held in the order of △introduction on KUBS △7 majors, 3 tracks △Special lecture on business negotiation by professor Seungwoo Kwon △business exercise based on the lecture △online campus tour △KUBS student mentor lecture △Q&A.

 

 

The event began with the greeting words of Jae Uk Chun, Vice dean of KUBS. Vice dean Chun said “We hope that Teen Mentoring day becomes an experience where you may find motivation to work hard during your high school years.” He ended the speech, expressing gratitude towards the KU student ambassador, KUBE that organized and managed the event, KUBS mentors, and high school students who participated with interest in KUBS.

 

 

After the speech, the student ambassador KUBE introduced the KUBS buildings, the faculty which is the largest size in Korea, and other information about KUBS. Addition to the basic information about KUBS, information that mentees need such as scholarships, student conferences and student clubs, were given. Also KUBS programs that students will want to participate, such as △Startup Station △support on Public officer Qualification Exam and CPA exam △Career Development Center that gives custom career information for students △Alumni mentoring.

 

 

Next, the unique curriculum of KUBS, 7 majors and 3 tracks was introduced. The specifics and future careers of 7 majors, ▲Finance ▲Accounting ▲LSOM ▲Marketing ▲International Business ▲Management ▲MIS were explained to mentees. Also, the 3 tracks were introduced. “Business Analytics”, which grows highfliers that analyzes big data successfully to implement in the 4th industrial revolution era, “Entrepreneurship and revolution” course that creates global leaders in ever-changing times, “Social values and ESG management” course were introduced and explained to help the understanding of mentees with related fields.

 

Professor Seungwoo Kwon gave a special lecture on business negotiation. The lecture created an opportunity for students to learn about the definition and characteristics of negotiation and experience a university class for themselves. Mentees learned about the key concepts of business negotiation such as ▲distributive negotiation ▲integrative negotiation and the business jargon terms related to negotiation, along with the real-life cases of negotiation in corporates.

 

 

After the lecture, mentees had hands-on experience in a business exercise with KUBS mentors. The exercise assigned the role of buyers and sellers to mentees so they could arrange a group and conduct a research under the guidance of mentors, and experience negotiation according to their roles. The exercise was followed by mentoring where each group asked what they were curious about such as △studying tips of mentors △looking after your own mental health △college admission college life. The Mentoring day ended with a variety of topics from college admission to counseling.

 

 

Student who participated in the mentoring day shared thoughts, saying “I’ve wanted to go to KU Business School just because, but today I got to know what I will learn in business. I got more motivated because I realized what I would do in the future,” and “I will work hard to become a future KUBS student.”
