Graduate School Meeting and Special Lecture on Research Integrity

On December 6 (Fri), KUBS held Graduate School Meeting and Special Lecture on Research Integrity at Hyundai Motor Hall Room B306. The meeting was hosted by Associate Dean Baeho Kim, program director of the department of business administration and department of international business. The research Integrity lecture was held by Professor Yoon Mi-sun, professor at Seoul Women’s University.

At the start of the meeting, Associate Dean Baeho Kim said, "The department of business administration and department of international business will be integrated from 2020." In addition, professor Kim introduced the new business analysis process and delivered information that could help research, such as support for the cost of living for doctoral programs linked to the BK21 project and support for international academic competitions. Professor Kim then talked about ways to overcome the academic difficulties students might face during their graduate school life. He said, “It is good to focus on studying, but taking good care of your stress and paying attention to other things is one of the ways to overcome the difficulties."

In the following hours, Yoon Mi-sun, a professor at Seoul Women’s University, gave a lecture on research ethics under the theme of "Data and Digital Ethics in the Business Administration Area." The lecture consisted of
issues from the era of the fourth industrial revolution management ethics in the era of the fourth industrial revolution ethics related to big data and artificial intelligence. "The management of the fourth industrial era is to generate profits through data," Yoon said. "It is the ethics of the fourth industrial revolution to consider data analysis and data ethics."

"Data ethics should be considered in terms of both users, users, operators and developers," Yoon said, citing the example of self-driving cars utilizing big data and artificial intelligence cloud computing. Yoon categorized management ethics in the era of the fourth industrial revolution into "big data-related ethics" and "artificial intelligence-related ethics." Yoon explained that ethics related to big data focus on protecting users from data collection, while for artificial intelligence-related ethics, she explained ethics from the user's perspective and from the developer and operator's perspective separately.
