On November 7 (Mon), the students of Korea University Business School’s S³ Asia MBA (AMBA) won second place in the “Mahindra War Room” held in Mumbai, India. The “Mahindra War Room” is an MBA-level case competition annually held by the Mahindra Group since 2008. The competition was launched to solve business issues that Mahindra Group faces.

In the competition, each team selects one of the four following topics and develops a strategy: ▲Growth strategy in domestic market for SSsangyong Motor, ▲Growth strategy for Zoto App, ▲IT strategy for the new generation, and ▲Performance improvement strategy for Mahindra Racing Formula E Team. A total of 2,214 teams from all around the world participated in the competition. Twenty-five teams, consisting of 21 Indian teams and 4 international teams, made it to the semifinals while only 10 teams advanced to the final.

“We sought advice from Nigerians at Funda University because our topic was about growth strategy for Zoto App used in Nigeria by Mahindra Group,” Gerillima Ang Chee Hui said. “Based on their information, we were able to understand the circumstances in Nigeria, which is quiet unfamiliar to Asians, develop a strategy, and learn many other things.”
The Mahindra Group, the sponsor of the competition, is a multinational conglomerate that acquired Korea’s Ssangyong Motor. It generates revenue of approximately $7.1 billion and employs more than 100,000 people. Mahindra operates the key industries in India, taking a leadership position in utility vehicles, tractors, and information technology (IT). It also shows a strong presence in financial services, vacation ownership, consulting services, industrial equipment, logistics, etc. In 2014, Mahindra was listed in the Forbes Global 2000, a comprehensive list of the world’s largest, most powerful public companies, based on its revenue, profit, assets, and market value.
