Mentoring Day with KUBS Alumni
Marking its 10th anniversary, the Fall 2016 Alumni Mentoring Day was held on October 26 at 7:00 PM in Ahn Young Il Hall of the LG-POSCO Building. In the event, former KUBS Associate Dean Hosun Rhim, 27 KUBS students, and 9 alumni mentors from the various fields, such as △ accounting, △public institutions, △finance, △services, △consulting, △manufacturing, made a presence.
The Alumni Mentoring Day, hosted by Career Hub every semester, is a mentoring program for KUBS students matching with graduates. KUBS students can apply for the mentoring program through the KUBS website each semester. Participating students (2nd through 4th year students) will be paired up with alumni working in the field the student is hoping to pursue, so that they can receive career counseling as well as practical advice on job market.
In the event, alumnus Jong Bae Park (Business Administration, ’79) has received a letter of appreciation and alumnus Sang Gil Jeon (Business Administration, ’83) has received a letter of appointment as the delegate of mentors. “No matter what time period we are living in, it is important to question and be concerned about society,” alumnus Jeon said. “Since Business is a study that analyzes the current world trends, I hope KUBS students can go through various experiences.” After introducing the alumni, the mentoring event began, and students asked questions about the job market to alumni.
“My mentor, alumnus Young Dae Kim, gave us promotional products from his company and explained the marketing process in detail,” said JiHyeon Lee (Business Administration, ‘14) who attended as a mentee. “It was a meaningful time because I could see how the theories I learned from school are applied in real marketing scenes.”
Meanwhile, Career Hub provides an opportunity for students to meet with graduates and exchange information through the alumni mentoring program for one year. Students can apply for the mentoring program in May via KUBS website. A total of 48 alumni mentors and 124 KUBS students have participated in the 2016 Alumni Mentoring Day.
