2026 Fall Semester KUBS Scholarship (Need-Based Scholarship) – 1st Round Application Guide (August 3–11, 2026)

 
 

※ This announcement is intended for international students applying for the KUBS Scholarship (Need-Based Scholarship).

※ The KUBS Scholarship is a tuition support scholarship that covers up to 50% of tuition.

※ Students applying for both the KUBS Scholarship and the Dream Scholarship must submit the same supporting documents separately for each application.

 

1. Application Period

Monday, August 3, 2026, 9:00 AM – Tuesday, August 11, 2026, 5:00 PM (KST)**

*Late applications will not be accepted.*

 

2. Announcement of Results

(1) Results will be announced via text message in late September, and the scholarship will be disbursed in early October.

(2) The KUBS Scholarship is a post-payment scholarship. Even if selected as a recipient, students must first pay their tuition during the designated tuition payment period (installment payment is permitted). The scholarship will be deposited into the student's personal bank account after tuition payment has been completed.

 

3. Eligibility

Students enrolled in the Fall 2026 semester.

 

4. Ineligible Applicants

(1) Students receiving full tuition support for the Fall 2026 semester.

(2) Students registered beyond the regular period of study as of Fall 2026:

* Students in their 9th semester or above

* Transfer students in their 5th semester or above

 

5. Selection Criteria

(1) Completion of at least 12 credits and a GPA of 3.0 or higher in the previous semester (including F grades).

(2) Selection will be based on a comprehensive review of the previous semester's academic performance, online application materials, and preferential consideration factors.

(3) Selected recipients must attend the Scholarship Award Ceremony (scheduled for late November) and submit a letter of appreciation.

Supporting documents for the information provided in the Financial Assessment Form. Only documents issued in Korean or English will be accepted.

 

7. Preferential Consideration

(1) Applicants who applied for the Bright Futures A Scholarship administered by the KU Global Services Center but were not selected may receive preferential consideration.

(2) Applicants who submit supporting documents for their financial status may receive preferential consideration during the evaluation process. Supporting documents must be issued in Korean or English.

(3) Applicants who submit a TOPIK Level 4 or higher score may receive preferential consideration. Eligible scores must have been obtained after admission to Korea University. A TOPIK score of the same level will be considered for preferential evaluation only once during the student's period of enrollment.

 

8. Application Procedure

(1) Visit the KUBS website (https://biz.korea.ac.kr/eng/undergraduate/scholar_kubs.html)

 

→ Undergraduate Scholarship

→ KUBS Scholarship

→ Click "Application" at the bottom.

 

(2) Log in using your KU Portal ID → Complete the application form and upload the required documents → Submit.

* Applications may be revised before the deadline.

* After submission, please confirm the pop-up message "Your application is submitted successfully."

* If you experience a login error:

- If your portal password contains special characters, change it to a password without special characters and try again.

- If the issue persists, please email chun2dan@korea.ac.kr.

 

9. Important Notes

(1) Students receiving full tuition support are not eligible for this scholarship.

* Total scholarship support cannot exceed 100% of tuition.

(2) The reason for application, financial situation, and academic plan related to your post-graduation career goals included in the online application are important evaluation factors. Please provide detailed and specific responses.

(3) Applications may be excluded from review if the online application contains the same content submitted in a previous semester or if the application is left incomplete.

(4) If a recipient takes a leave of absence after receiving the scholarship, the scholarship will be revoked and must be repaid to the designated account provided by the administrative office.
