Professor Park Myung Sub and Professor Moon Hyoung Koo's Retirement Ceremony Held
The retirement ceremony for professors who have worked at Korea University Business School for a long time was held at 6 p.m. on August 28 at Ahn Young-il Hall of LG-POSCO Building. The retirement ceremony was prepared by KUBS to celebrate the honorable retirement of Professor Park Myung Sub and Professor Moon Hyoung Koo, who has been with KUBS with their long-lasting love and passion. The event was attended by several fellow professors and staff, including Park Myung Sub and Moon Hyoung Koo, who are to retire from the school.
The first order was to introduce the two professors who are to retire. Professor Park Myung Sub's introduction was led by Professor Shin Ho-jeong of the LSOM sector, and Professor Moon Hyoung Koo's introduction was led by Professor Kim Young Kyu of Management sector. Professor Park Myung-sub majored in trade at Korea University, earned a Master's degree in Economics from Virginia State University in the U.S. and a doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Texas. Since then, Park first taught at Kansas State University in the U.S. in 1987, and has been a professor at KUBS since 1990. Professor Moon Hyoung Koo majored in English at Seoul National University, earned a Master's degree in Business Administration from Yonsei University and a doctorate in organizational behavior from Minnesota University in the U.S.. Moon has taught in KUBS since 1993.
"I had been taught by Professor Park Myung Sub in my undergraduate years, so I feel much more emotional," said Professor Shin. Professor Kim Young-gyu said, "Professor Moon Hyoung-koo is like a mother of our major," and added, "He has a warm and healthy smile, and he has always given love to not only us professor but also the students as well."
Then there was the order in which a thank-you prize was delivered. Kim Jae Wook, Dean of KUBS, delivered a plaque of appreciation to the two professors, which is by Korea University and the professors of KUBS. Kim Jae Wook expressed regret by letting the two professors leave. "As juniors of them, I am very grateful for them," said Kim Jae Wook during his retirement ceremony. He added, "Professor Park is the one who led the LSOM field at Korea University Business School, and Professor Moon Hyoung-koo has a deep affection for the school as he has so far led the cheering squad." Lastly he said, "I feel emotional being here; I hope the two professors don't forget about our school and continue to pay attention to our school."
The ensuing retirement speech showed the professors' love for and pride in school. After their retirement speech, a cake cutting ceremony and a toast ceremony followed. The professors and guests celebrated their retirement by sharing their memories with professors Park Myung Sub and Moon Hyoung Koo.
