The UK Financial Times (FT) Releases Executive MBA Ranking for 2017
KUBS EMBA, ranking 20th in the world, remains the top among the universities in Korea for seven consecutive years

The Korea University Business School (KUBS, Dean=Professor Soo Young Kwon) Executive MBA (EMBA) is ranked 20th in the Executive MBA Ranking 2017 released by the British newspaper Financial Times (FT). According to this year’s ranking by FT, the KUBS EMBA placed 24th worldwide in 2016 and has emerged 20th in 2017, coming in at No. 1 in Korea for seven consecutive years. It is also noteworthy that KUBS has remained high on the list in terms of its 3-year-average ranking, one of indicators that provides a more accurate assessment of a program’s quality in the long term. The average ranking of the KUBS EMBA for the past three year is 24th (27th in 2015, 24th in 2016, and 20th in 2017).

The KUBS EMBA outperforms some of the world’s best business schools such as △Columbia Business School (40th), △UCLA: Anderson (48th), and △Cornell University: Johnson (49th). The EMBA jointly delivered by Kellogg and HKUST Business School lead the ranking. In Korea, Yonsei University EMBA came in 43rd.

The Financial Times conducts a survey once a year based on alumni’s salary increase and career progress, research rank, international diversity, etc. and finds the top 100. Data for the ranking are annually collected from alumni who graduated in June. The survey begins in the following month, and its ranking is released in October. The KUBS EMBA achieved high scores in the following ranking criteria: △Salary increase, △Career progress, △Aims achieved, and △Faculty with doctorates.

Furthermore, what distinguishes the KUBS EMBA is that it is a single-school program. In the ranking, there are a total of 24 executive MBAs run by Asian universities. Among them, only nine universities, including Korea University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (6th), Nanyang University (30th), and Chinese University of Hong Kong (32nd), exclusively run their own EMBA programs. The rest of the universities are in partnership with universities in the United Sates, the United Kingdom, or France for their joint programs.

“The FT ranking reaffirmed our global competitiveness and excellence of the program,” said KUBS Dean Soo Young Kwon. “We will continue to support the KUBS EMBA to develop and maintain the title of “the world-class Korea University Business School.”
