The Korea MBA (KMBA)’s Spring 2017 Domestic Field Trip took place in Yeosu and Gwangyang, South Jeolla Province for three days from April 28 to 30. The KMBA students were able to develop their business acumen by visiting △GS Caltex, △Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority, △POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks, and △Korea National Oil Corporation’s Yeosu Underground Storage Base.

The first company tour was held at GS Caltex’s Yeosu Plant, and company officials explained what “Oil Business” is. The second destination was Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority. The students went on a cruise excursion and toured Gwangyang Bay riding on a tugboat. On the second day, they visited Gwangyang Steelworks to observe its internal hot strip mill. Providing the students the opportunity to learn about oil stockpiling projects and its business, the last day of the field trip took place at Korea National Oil Corporation’s Yeosu Underground Storage Base.
“I have to say it was not easy to make a decision of participating in a field trip since I have to work and study at the same,” said Jongkyung Lee (KMBA, ’17) who participated in the field trip. “This turned out to be by far the best experience throughout the KMBA program.”
The S³ Asia MBA (AMBA), a full-time MBA program, went on a domestic field trip for three days from April 19 to 21. The AMBA students had company tours at △POSCO, △Hyundai Heavy Industries, and △Hyundai Motor Company, and explored Korean history and culture in Gyeongju.
