Fall 2016 MBA Welcoming Ceremony and Orientation Held

A total of 74 new students in full-time MBA programs
On August 25 at 9:00 AM, the Fall 2016 Full-time MBA Welcoming Ceremony was held at LG-POSCO Building. The full-time MBA programs include △Finance MBA (FMBA), △GMBA, and △S³ Asia MBA (AMBA). A total of 74 new students have been admitted to the full-time MBA programs as follows: △15 FMBA students, △38 GMBA students, and △21 AMBA students (9 students from Korea University, 3 students from Fudan University, and 9 students from National University of Singapore).


KUBS Dean Dong-One Kim, Associate Dean Myeong-Hyeon Cho, KMBA Program Director Jinbae Kim, and other guests attended the welcoming ceremony. “The MBA program will give you and your colleagues from different backgrounds an opportunity to learn about the world,” Dean Kim said in his welcoming remarks. “I hope you will become a leader with expertise through our program.” Afterward, the orientation session, covering information on Korea University Business School, MBA program curriculum, and its history, was held.

The photo session and KUBS campus tour were followed after the welcoming ceremony. Then, the new students headed over to Bloomvista Resort, located in Yangpyeong County, for the Off-campus Orientation Session. At the session, the students had a group presentation and KU’s traditional event, Sa-Bal-Shik, to become acquainted with each other. They also had a cheering session with KU cheer squad.





The MBA Prerequisite Session for New MBA Students (Pre-MBA) was held in room 403 in Hyundai Motor Hall from August 17th to 19th. The Pre-MBA is a pre-matriculation program that helps new students acclimate to school life. The program is held from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM, consisting of the follwoing sessions: “Pre-MBA Special Lecture” for non-business majors and “Career Day” for professional career management.


“The students with business backgrounds had an opportunity to review their previous knowledge, whereas the non-business students have acquired groundings in business,” Professor Jinhan Pae who delivered a lecture on financial accounting said.
“It was beneficial to learn the basic materials from great professors before the semester begins,” Eunji Jung (11th Batch of FMBA) said.

On August 22 at 9:00 AM, the Career Day session was held in room 403 in Hyundai Motor Hall as part of the Pre-MBA program. The Career Day session, hosted by KUBS Career Hub, is a professional career management program. The new students can earn 0.5 academic credit of Skill Seminar course by participating in this session.
The special lectures on various topics, such as career management and school life, were presented during the Career Day session. The lectures were given as follows: △Introduction to Career Hub (Sung Eun Lim from KUBS Career Hub), △MBA Career Management (Korn Ferry International Managing Director Eun-jonn Chae), △English CV Writing Workshop (Professor Gil Coombe at Institute for Foreign Language Studies), and △New International Student Orientation (Jenny Chang from KUBS International Office).
