KUBS Emergency Evacuation Training for Spring 2016 Semester

On May 10 (Tue) at 10:00 AM, the emergency evacuation training was conducted across all KUBS buildings. The fire drill lasted for 15 minutes in the three buildings, including KUBS Main Building. KUBS holds an emergency evacuation training every semester under simulated fire conditions to ensure the efficient and safe exit of facilities in the case of an emergency.

Professors and students evacuated all KUBS buildings and gathered in front of the lobby as an emergency alarm went off with an announcement saying “A fire has been reported in the building. Please evacuate the building immediately.” The “Fog Machine,” a device that creates artificial smoke, was used as well to simulate real-life situations. The staff put on a fluorescent orange vest and led the people to evacuate all areas safely.

“At first, I was bewildered by the siren and the smoke; however, I followed the instructions and evacuated the building calmly,” Minji Son (Business Administration, ’15) said. “This drill has given me an opportunity to experience the emergency evacuation in case of fire.”

“The purpose of fire drills is to establish a proper disaster response system within the university,” Sung Pyo Jang, Assistant Manager at the Department Office of Business School, who is in charge of fire drill training, said. “We strive to raise awareness of fire prevention to students by conducting a fire drill every semester.”
