"Where Can I Find My Career Path?"… 2024 Career Fair: Useful New Job Information (알쓸新잡)
The "2024 Career Fair: Useful New Job Information (알쓸新잡)" (hereinafter referred to as the Career Fair), hosted by the Career Development Center of Korea University Business School (Dean: Eonsoo Kim), the LINC Project Group of Korea University, and the 56th Student Council of Korea University Business School, ECHO, was held on the first basement level of Hyundai Motor Hall. The theme of this Career Fair was "Useful New Job Information," and it was open to all Korea University students.
During the first session of the Career Fair, the following mentors delivered lectures: △ Minwoo Woo on Marketing △ Jinwook Park on Human Resources △ Jinhong Kim on Entrepreneurship △ Jong Hyun Lee on Consulting △ and Yong Wook Jeon on Accounting. The second session featured △ Seok Kyu Yoon on Finance △ Jinyoung Bang on Law School △ Yo Han Yang on Foreign Companies △ Hyun Min Lee on Investment △ and Jihoon Bae on Corporate Finance.
In the Human Resources section, mentor Jinwook Park stated, "The HR department should provide services that listen to and resolve the problems employees bring. Since HR encompasses many sub-fields, building diverse skills is beneficial." In the Accounting section, mentor Yong Wook Jeon encouraged students by saying, "Korea University students will succeed in any field if they find the right path."
Mentor Jinyoung Bang, in the Law School section, discussed career paths after law school, the role of a tax lawyer, motivations for choosing a career path, necessary skills for the legal profession, and what to prepare during undergraduate studies. He noted, "Both law and business are practical disciplines aimed at solving real-world problems. Therefore, studying your major thoroughly will be beneficial."
In the Finance section, mentor Seok Kyu Yoon presented on △ researching and selecting financial public enterprises like the Bank of Korea △ preliminary work and strategy △ and what he would do differently if he were to start over.
Jin Hee Jeong (Business Administration, '23), who participated in the mentoring, shared, "I have always been interested in HR, and participating in the mentoring session helped me understand what I need to prepare." Hyunwoo Jeong (Business Administration, '23) added, "As a sophomore still undecided about my career path, I was pleased to learn more about law school and the career of a lawyer during the law school session."
Additionally, after the lectures, students had the opportunity to engage in coffee chats with mentors in their areas of interest.
