2022 General Graduate School Winter Boot Camp held: Programming & Math & Statistics

The 2022 Winter Boot Camp was held for a total of 5 days from January 24 (Mon) to 28 (Fri) for current students and freshmen of the Graduate School of Business at Korea University. Programming, math and statistics lectures were held throughout the day for graduate students.

In the morning, D’sight CEO Park Jun-gyu held a programming class. CEO Park started the lecture by noting that “This class is a basic lecture so that anyone who is new to the programming can use Python practically.” The programming class started with an explanation of the basic syntax of the Python language using Anaconda and Jupyter notebooks. As the lecture was conducted both online and offline, the lecturer and the students actively exchanged questions and communicated. After explaining the data types of numbers, strings, lists, and dictionaries, the students proceeded to practice.

In the afternoon, Professor Woong-gi Lee of Korea University conducted a math and statistics class online. The lecture consisted of lectures on the mathematical and statistical basics required for the graduate school of business administration. Professor Lee explained the basics of mathematics and statistics, such as the differentiation of polynomial functions, calculation of vectors and matrices, and analytical models, and the lecture was followed by questions and answers from students.

The students who participated in the boot camp said, “I applied for the boot camp because I heard that in order to improve data retrieval ability, it is necessary to become familiar with techniques such as crawling.” Also, one said, “This special lecture was useful as a guide for future graduate study, and because it was a format that allowed two-way communication in real time, I was able to learn more.” Another also replied, “I expect to learn a lot more since there are more lectures left to take.”
