‘2020 Startup Express Summer season’ held

KUBS(Dean=Kim Jae Wook) Startup Institute(head=Kim Hee Cheon)’s 9th teams were selected. ‘2020 Startup Express Summer season,’ held in the stage of KUBS Main Building 2nd floor on June 19th(Friday) 2pm, was filled with passionate and brilliant ideas of pre-entrepreneurs with infinite potential. 

KUBS Startup Institute hosted this event with Seung Myeong Ho Entrepreneurship education center supervising and the SK SUPEX council, Social Value council and Happynarae sponsoring. In this event, the following personnel attended as the jury: △ Jae Wook Kim, KUBS Dean △Hicheon Kim, Director of Startup Institute △Shijin Yoo, Director of Seung Myung-Ho Center for Entrepreneurship Education △ Jungbien Moon, Iljin center for Startup Incubation director △Jaiho Chung, Startup Institute Professor of Industry-University Collaboration △SungMi Kim, Kidop CEO △Jinyoung Kim, Happynarae department head, △Hyeon gon Kim, Iljin group department head △Seungpyo Lee, Iljin group board member △Yonghyun Lee, Donghwa group department head △Youngsub Joo, Engineering graduate school chair professor.

Director of Seung Myung-Ho Center for Entrepreneurship Education, Shijin Yoo, said “the Startup Express is the most famous and promising startup incubation event among those held in college. We hope this will be a great opportunity to acquire a broader viewpoint for students who are vaguely thinking about starting a business.”

Dean Jae Wook Kim welcomed the participants by saying “KUBS is happy to support businesses run by youths. This will be an opportunity to explain how each company’s items will contribute to society. We wish you luck.”

 

A total of ten teams that passed prior evaluation attended ‘2020 Startup Express Summer season’ and explained their business items. Each company was given five minutes to present their business items and five minutes of Q&A session.

Services that were introduced were △Workout design app(All new fit) that presents quests for beginners to easily start exercising, △personal beauty solution app using AI(Maneek), △personalized women’s innerwear with detailed sizes(Likenot) △academic management solution that manages coursework, projects and activities(J2C), △fitness center 020 platform in which anyone can exercise at any gym, any time without a membership(Liany company), △a growth support service for digital influencers who want to start a Youtube channel (Offroad Creators), △Medical big data platform to enhance hospital treatment quality (Mymedic), △AI based silver near distance on foot delivery service (Silver lining), △Fashion image collection based taste/preference sharing service (Sketchers) △New personalized heat protection service (Roots Tech) and others.

The jury evaluated teams based on △marketability △innovation △business value △business ability and selected a total of seven teams, including △Sketchers(Seung Myung-Ho Entrepreneurship award) △ Roots Tech(Iljin startup incubator award) △Silver lining (SK Social Value award) △MyMedic, All new fit, Likenot, Liany company (participation award).

Hicheon Kim, Director of Startup Institute, encouraged all the participants by saying “the Startup Institute is open for all of those who have a will to start a business. Even though some may not have won an award in this event, there are companies grew by receiving feedback from within and out of school.”

Sketchers’ CEO Chae Hyun Lee, the winner of the Seung Myung-Ho Entrepreneurship award, said “I’m greatful that a year’s hard work was worth it. Our company will work hard to grow even more at the Startup Institute.”

The three teams that won the △Seung Myung-Ho Entrepreneurship award △ Iljin startup incubator award △ SK Social Value award in the ‘2020 Startup Express Summer season’ will receive operating expenses, and the seven teams including those that received participation awards can move into the in Iljin Center for Startup Incubation. They will also receive systematic enterprise education and support as well as sustained consultation and support form mentors composed of senior entrepreneurs, expert in the industry, and venture capitalists.
