KUBS MBA took a 2014 spring semester field trip. Starting June 21st to 24th, a total of 70 people went to Shanghai, China, and had opportunity to take a tour of Chinese firms, and had a special lecture and seminar at Fudan University.
 
On the first day, students went to E-Mart and experienced the Chinese market system. From the manager and staff they heard about the initial occupation of the main foreign corporate strategy by Chinese retailers. Once the explanation was over, they had a question and answer time.



On the second day, they were able to experience Chinese culture and history. They went to various sights including museums around Shanghai.



On the third day, they attended a special lecture at Fudan University. Professor Fan Xiucheng talked about ‘Marketing in China’, and mentioned that it is important to know what is China, and the characteristics of China, in order to be successful. He also talked about other corporations that succeeded in the Chinese Market, and explained what they had to do in order to be successful. There was another lecture given by Professor Youzhen Zhao, who talked about ‘Multinational Enterprises in China’. He had a discussion with students regarding success and failure of firms in the Chinese market, and problems that CEOs have faced. Once the lecture was over, students visited the Shanghai Economic Finance Center.
          
On the last day, they took a tour around the subsidiaries of foreign companies. They took a look around the Volkswagen factory, followed by a field trip to the Chinese Coca Cola factory. They were able to hear about the Chinese market in-depth.
 
Gwangyoon Yu said “I had a great experience. It was really fortunate to be here and see the Chinese market process in person. It also gave me lots of inspiration.”
