KUBScholars Open Seminar in June (Study Abroad Prep Program)
On June 5 at Room 210, LG-POSCO Building, the Business School’s study abroad preparation program ‘KUBScholars’ (academic advisor: Professor Byung Cho Kim) had its open seminar in June. The guest speaker was Jae-Pil Lee (Business ‘09), who is a prospective doctoral candidate in Economics at Carnegie Mellon University.
After he graduated from Korea University Business School in 2015, Mr. Lee signed up for KUBScholars to prepare for his study overseas. He then started his master’s degree at London School of Economics in 2016 and graduated last year. The topic of his lecture was ‘My Studying Abroad Experience: Tips and Advice’, where he shared his experience of studying overseas with the audience.
In the Q&A session afterward, the participants raised some of the practical questions. As regards who to request the letter of recommendation, Mr. Lee responded “I suggest you to request of the letter to your academic advisor, but I would also suggest you to request the letters from the professor of the courses you were good at, as well as professors you are close with.” He added, “As long as you are committed, I think it is a good idea to planning a career in academia. Do not worry about your weakness – you will figure it out.”
