Global MBA & Global MIM, Welcome to KUBS!
The 2019 Global MBA, Global MIM (G-MBA, G-MIM hereafter) Welcome Ceremony and Orientation were held at SUPEX HALL, LG-POSCO Building on August 23. About 60 freshmen and faculty members including Dean Kim Jae Wook, Professor Shin Hojung and Professor Kim Kwanghyun attended the event. The orientation was held for two days and one night, including both the On-campus Orientation and the Off-campus Orientation held at COEX Intercontinental Hotel in Seoul.
First, the event began with Dean Kim's welcoming speech for freshmen. "KUBS has a very deep history of establishing an MBA program for the first time in Korea," said Dean Kim. "I hope your experiences are not limited to those within school." He also welcomed the freshmen, saying, "I wish you all a good luck because you will be able to become global leaders."
The subsequent On-campus orientation sessions for G-MBA and G-MIM were held at Hyundai Motor Hall, Room 403 and 412 respectively. The G-MBA orientation was conducted by Professor Shin hojung, while G-MIM orientation was conducted by Professor Kim Kwanghyun. Each orientation was conducted by its principal professor, who guided the introduction of courses, schedule of academic affairs, gradings and graduation requirements.
Students later headed to the COEX Intercontinental Hotel in Seoul for a two-day off-Campus orientation. While on the move, freshmen experienced Korean culture by conducting group missions such as visiting representative locations in Seoul and purchasing souvenirs. After dinner together, students held a makgeolli drinking ceremony (sabalsik), a culture of Korea University, to build friendship and strengthen their sense of belonging. Then on 24th, a small souvenir was given to a group that presented the previous day's group mission. Wrapping up the two-day orientation, G-MIM Professor Kim Kwanghyun said, "It was spectacular to see you with different cultures and languages cheering together under the name of Korea University. I hope you all rely on each other and do your best to complete the course successfully."
