Fall 2018 KUBS Scholarship Award Ceremony
…A Total of 38 KUBS Scholarships to 170 Students
 On October 19th, the Business School had the Fall 2018 Scholarship Award Ceremony at Ahn Young Il Hall, LG-POSCO Building. Scholarship donors and holders of a total of 130 KUBS students participated in the ceremony. The list of scholarship donors who attended the ceremony was as follows: CEO of Musical House GoMaWo Korea Moon-Yong Lee; President of Namchon Foundation Chul-Ki Choi; Vice Chairman of Small Lock Investment Deok-Hee Cho; Chief Vice President of KUBS Alumni Association Ja-Hyeong Koo and Executive Secretary Sung-Ho Oh; Executive Vice President of HR Department at Hyundai Motor Group Won-Jin Kim; Senior Vice President of KCC Corporation Jong-Kyoon Yoo and HR Executive Manager Han-Seung Nam; Jin-Hyung Jang from Geun Chang Kim Scholarship Foundation; Secretary General of KUBS MBA Alumni Association Jung-Kwon Kim and Executive Secretary Hyo-Jong Ahn; Head of Advisory at KPMG Korea Goo, Seung Hoe and Partner at KPMG Kong, Young Chil; and CEO of Darwin Technology & Finance Yong-Dong Yeo.
 
  










 
After a brief introduction of the guests, Dean Soo Young Kwon commenced the Ceremony by his welcoming remark. Dean Kwon said “Thank you all for your contribution and attendance to the ceremony. And I would also like to thank the students who are here today, during the mid-term exam period.” Dean Kwon continued, “I believe this is an exceptionally largest number of scholarships available to students from a single faculty. Thank you again for making such thoughtful and valuable contributions to junior students at KUBS.”
 
 
 Then the ceremony was followed by the awards of scholarship certificates to the holders. A total of 38 types of scholarships were granted to KUBS students this semester, including KUBS Dream Scholarship (60 holders) Future Scholarship (30) Namchon Scholarship (13) Soam Scholarship (12) Yangyeong Foundation Scholarship (8) Geun Chang Kim Foundation Scholarship (7) △AMP Alumni Association Scholarship (6) △MnJ Foundation Scholarship (4) △Geum Cheon Scholarship (4) △Chang, Jyh-ping Scholarship (4) △Scholarship by the 85th AMP (4) △Kowon Simwoo Foundation Scholarship (3). Scholarship holders were a total of 170 students inclusive of duplicated grants.

The scholarship donors and holders then had a banquet, with a chance to talk to each other. After the banquet, the donors made speeches, and a student had a thank-you speech on behalf of all scholarship holders. On his remark, Senior Vice President of KCC Corporation Jong-Kyoon Yoo said, “I am only doing what my seniors did for us. I hope all students here today to be leaders who influence the society.” Secretary General of KUBS MBA Alumni Association Jung-Kwon Kim also said, “I hope the meaningful contributions continue to the next generation at KUBS. Students here today will also be able to set a good example to your junior students.”

In addition, Head of Advisory at KPMG Korea Goo, Seung Hoe said, “I am very happy to be part of this contribution since last year, and to meet my junior KUBS students. At the same time, it is very rewarding for me as well. I hope you remember the spirit as KUBS students, even after your graduation.”

In response to the donors’ speech, Myung-Koo Kang (Business’11) thanked the guests on behalf of all scholarship beneficiaries, “The scholarship means a lot to me. It enabled me to plan my future, and it makes me resilient not to give up.” Heartfelt thank you for your priceless supports. I will not forget today and I promise I will support junior KUBS students, as you did for me.” The ceremony closed with a photo shoot afterward.
 
This semester, Korea University Business School provided scholarships of a total of 400 million won contributed by 38 types of scholarships. More than half of the enrolled students (53.2%) are under scholarship including duplicate grants from the university and the government.
