New Gym Opened , Holds up to 8,957 students

Korea University opened its new indoor multi-purpose gymnasium,

 

which is largest among its kind among local universities, at its Anam Campus in Seoul. The facility was named "Hwajeong Stadium" after the pen name of the school's standing advisor, KIM Byung-kwan.

 

 

The Hwajeong Stadium was completed this July; its contstruction had started in 2004. It's three stories below ground and above ground and 2.2 times the size of Jangchung Stadium (8,384m2). It is able to hold up to 8,057 people.

 

"Our students will be able to use these facilities including a fitness center and squash courts with a fee of 30 dollars a month. It will provide a fitness and sporting arena for students and faculty while it can at the same time be used to host various sporting events held at universities," commented an official from Korea University.

 

Korea University developed a park, outdoor cafe, and a walkway outside the gymnasium and is allowing its neighbors to use part of its gymnasium facilities including the indoor jogging track.
