"Welcome, New Students!" Global MBA and Global MIM New Student Welcome Ceremony and Orientation

On August 30th and 31st, the Global MBA and Global MIM new student welcome ceremonies were held at the LG-POSCO Hall of Korea University Business School(Dean: Eonsoo Kim) and Lotte Hotel Seoul. The ceremony took place in the Supex Hall of the LG-POSCO Hall.  The ceremony was unfolded with the opening ceremony and national anthem, followed by a welcoming address for new students, and concluded with a commemorative photo session. 

The event was honored by the attendance of Dean Eonsoo Kim, former Dean Sang Yong Kim, former Vice Dean Janghyuk Lee, and Betty Chung, Global MBA Academic Director. 

Former Dean Sang Yong Kim welcomed the new students on behalf of the Business School, stating, “I hope you achieve great success during your studies at Korea University Business School, the top business education institution in Korea.” Former Vice Dean Janghyuk Lee then delivered a welcome address, after which the ceremony concluded with the school anthem and a group photo. 

Subsequently, the new students participated in ice-breaking activities and lunch at the Young-Il Ahn Hall in the LG-POSCO Hall, and completed group assignments around the campus. On the afternoon of the 30th, the ‘Off-campus Orientation’ took place at Lotte Hotel Seoul. The event featured presentations of group project, an awards ceremony for outstanding teams, and a social dinner. They also had the opportunity to experience school spirit by learning KU cheers with the Korea University cheerleading team and participating in traditional Korea University events, including the 'Sabal Ceremony' and 'FM'. 

On the 31st, the On-campus Orientation took place. While the Off-campus Orientation focused more on Korea University traditions and networking, the On-campus Orientation was designed to provide essential academic guidelines. The students were introduced to the vision and strategy of the Global MBA and Global MIM programs and were informed about the curriculum for the academic year. Prior to embarking on their academic journey, students received essential information on using the KUPID portal and Blackboard, as well as the procedures for obtaining their student IDs. This marked the conclusion of the new student welcome ceremony and orientation.
