Simon Fraser University is a public university founded in 1965 and located in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. The university is named after the greatest explorer Simon Fraser (1776~1862).
 
 Although the history of SFU is short, SFU has reputation for its innovative programs and greatness in cultural sciences and natural sciences. SFU has also been nominated as the greatest Canadian university by Macleans Magazine.



Since SFU offers 3 semester program (January, May, and September), students are granted with the flexibility of choosing semesters. Vacation time can be arranged freely, therefore, students may graduate early or finish industry cooperation program. Also, unlike other Canadian universities where they put more emphasis on graduate school, SFU focuses on major programs for undergraduate students and let the students experience internship for a year before graduation through industry cooperation system.




 SFU is composed of three campuses: Burnaby Mountain Campus, the main campus of SFU, Vancouver Campus, and Surrey Campus. Burnaby campus is well known for its beautiful view of mountain and sea. All the campuses are connected with buses and trains.




SFU is comprised of 8 departments: Beedie School of Business, applied science department, art· social science department and etc. SFU also runs library, museum, art gallery, radio station.
 



SFU, as the first Canadian University, has joined NCAA, National Collegiate Athletic Association in 2009. There are sports teams with nick name, ‘Simon Fraser Clan’.
