Hyundai Motor Hall Inauguration Ceremony

Korea University (President: Byoung-Chul Kim) held the Inauguration Ceremony for the Hyundai Motor Hall in the Anam Campus on September 11th (Wed.) at 10am.

Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group Mong-Koo Chung and five CEOs of Hyundai Motor Group affiliates, Chairman of the board of Korea Choongang Academy (학교법인고려중앙학원) Jae-Ho Kim, President of Korea University Byoung-Chul Kim, President of Korea University Alumni Association Sun-Hwae Joo (주선회), Dean of KUBS Doo-Hee Lee, as well as 400 others participated in the event.

The Hyundai Motor Hall has 5 upper floors and 4 basement floors adding up to 15,470㎡ (about 4680 pyung). The interior consists of 28 faculty offices, 16 lecture rooms, 50 group study rooms, and 1050 locker spaces. With a greenbelt installed inside the building and walls that have been designed to let in as much sunlight as possible, the Hyundai Motor Hall provides a resting area reminiscent of nature for students. In addition, it is also a self-sustaining building with a Ground Source Heat Pump (GSHP) System that optimizes energy efficiency. The lecture rooms have also been equipped with cutting-edge technology such as an electronic lecture desk and master controller that can control any equipment in the room with a single touch.


The Hyundai Motor Hall was built in order for KUBS to satisfy the demand for more lecture rooms and faculty offices as well as reach the vision of being one of the global top 50 business schools and Asia’s top 3. As a new landmark representing KUBS, the construction of the building was meaningful in that it was funded completely by the donations of alumni and donors. Along with the Hyundai Motor Group, 3600 donors contributed to the construction of the Hyundai Motor Hall.

 

 

At the inauguration ceremony, Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, Mong-Koo Chung offered his congratulatory remarks by saying, “I hope that the Hyundai Motor Hall will become a foundation for the realization of the dreams and futures of the students as well as become a cradle for the fostering of the best global leaders in world who contribute to society as a whole.”

Chairman of the board of Korea Choongang Academy (학교법인고려중앙학원) Jae-Ho Kim said, “As a representative business school in Korea, KUBS has established its place as a base for the cultivation of numerous business leaders who influenced the nation’s economy over its 100 year history. The Hyundai Motor Hall will be a stepping stone for KUBS to reach further heights as a top-level business school.”

President of Korea University Byoung-Chul Kim said, “I have faith that the Hyundai Motor Hall will be an important foothold for KUBS to write history in becoming one of Asia’s top 3 business schools and the global top 50, and I hope the talented individuals and new knowledge that will come as a result of this building will give much hope and joy to the supporters of KUBS.”
