Class of 84 present a 320 million won scholarship fund

 

 

The KUBS Alumni Association successfully hosted the ‘29th KUBS Alumni Night’ aimed at promoting friendship among alumni and further developing their Alma Mater. The event was held on December 3, 2009 (Thursday) at 6:30 pm at the Grand Ballroom of the Grand Intercontinental Hotel.

 

KUBS alums leading in the fields of politics and business, KUBS emeritus professors and current KUBS faculty including Professor Ki-Su Lee, President of Korea University attended the event making the evening more memorable.

 

The President of KUBS Alumni Association, Seung-Yoo Kim said “The progress made by KUBS is the result of the hard work put in by our alumni who have faithfully carried out their responsibilities in their given positions. I hope you will continue to demonstrate strong solidarity and gather your wisdom for the further development of the alumni association.”

 

With his term coming to an end, current President Seung-Yu Kim, Chairman of Hana Fianacial Group will be succeeded by Huh, Chang Soo, Chairman of GS Holdings.

 

Sang-young Choi (Business Administration 69) CEO of Young Steel, Bon-Neung Goo (Business Administration 70) Chairman of Heesung Group and Dong-soo Kim (Business Administration 74) President of the Export-Import Bank of Korea received the ‘Alumni of the Year Award’ presented by the KUBS Alumni Association.

 

 ‘KUBS Alumni Night’ has been held every year since it began in 1982 and this year marks its 29th anniversary. As a tradition, each year KUBS alumni get together to strengthen friendships and present scholarships to current students. Class of 84 who organized this year’s event donated 320 million Won in scholarship funds.

 

The donations collected during these events are being used to attract high-school graduates with excellent grades, grant scholarships to current students and provide congratulatory allowances to students who pass the national examinations. The fund is also spent to award and encourage the research activities of professors who publish exceptional papers.

 

Hasung Jang, Dean of KUBS said “KUBS is the only business school in Korea to be accredited both by AASCB and EQUIS. KUBS has achieved great results in the recent evaluations conducted at home and abroad and is recognized as Korea’s best business school. We will provide the framework for becoming one of the world’s top 50 schools through the establishment of the new business building. As such, I hope that many of you will participate in the fund raising efforts.”

 

After a toast and dinner, the alumni cheered and joined together in wishing for the continued development of KUBS. The evening ended with everyone singing the University anthem and slogan.
