Systematic analysis made with the database including approximately 40,000 publications in 86 business journals…more comprehensive measure than UTD ranking.
The Center for Business Research Analytics announced the results for “The KUBS Worldwide Business Research Rankings™.” The data have been acquired from publications in business journals to build up and analyze the database for these rankings.
KUBS faculty members directly took part in completion of “The KUBS Worldwide Business Rankings” which includes the journal selection process. The database of approximately 40,000 publications in business journals was reviewed for evaluation. In other words, all prestigious business journals were included in the database in the following seven major academic disciplines: △Accounting △Finance △Management △Management Information System (MIS) △Marketing △Operations Management & Management Science (OM/MS) △International Business (IB) & Strategy. The rankings have been released in three categories, namely, △Worldwide Rankings, △Rankings by Academic Area, and △Rankings by Journal.
The rankings have been derived from the set of data included in the publications of each 5-year period. Top 300 academic institutions were evaluated based on the overall score of the number of authors and institutions. The rankings are conducted by journals published in the years ranging from 2010 to 2014.
In this evaluation, KUBS ranked 75th in the Worldwide Rankings. University of Pennsylvania was ranked at the top of the list, followed by Erasmus University Rotterdam (2nd) and the University of Michigan Ann Arbor (3rd). The other top ten universities in the rankings were as follows: △Harvard University (4th) △MIT (5th) △Stanford University (9th) △New York University (10th).
Twelve universities in Asia, such as City University of Hong Kong (8th), Hong Kong Polytechnic University (11th), National University of Singapore (12th), were named within the top 100. KUBS was the only university in Korea that was listed in the top 100, while Seoul National University (171st), Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (175th), and Yonsei University (183rd) were ranked in the top 300.
“This system has been developed in order to independently improve and develop the pre-existing ranking systems in the world. KUBS, as a leader of business education in Asia and beyond, will not merely be a passive recipient of evaluations by other entities,” said Dean Dong-One Kim. “As the database for this ranking system was created including publications from most of the prestigious journals in the relevant field, we believe this can be used as a key index for university evaluations by many international institutions as well as become a leading standard for research achievement assessments in the world.”
