[2014 Nationwide Business School Assessment] The Secret behind KU’s top performances

For 7 consecutive years, KUBS has earned first place in the 2014 Nationwide Business School Rating conducted by Hankyung Business. KUBS has won various other reviews, and now their aiming for a higher goal. Global top 50 and Asia top 3.
KUBS have been selected as one of the agencies for the BK21 program, managed by National Research Foundation of Korea. This is due to performances and reviews they have received in the past years.
Companies rate KUBS graduates as ‘the best’
According to CEO score (Corporate management performance evaluation site), KUBS graduates take up the largest number when looking at the CEOs of 500 Korean corporations. Graduates from KUBS have also received the best review from 200 corporation managers, which earned them the first place in Nationwide Business School rating for the past 7 years.
This year, KUBS have successfully hosted ‘The 2nd Asia∙Pacific Business School Dean Summit’. Also in April, KUBS opened a Liaison Office in KEDGE BS, and in October the KEDGE Liaison Office was installed in the KUBS campus to facilitate cooperation on Eurasia MBA program. KUBS has attracted world famous lecturers in the field of business and economics as well.
It was thanks to their ceaseless effort towards 'innovation of management education'. KUBS was the first school in Korea to receive the major international certification of Business Administration Education. In 2005, KUBS earned certification from AACSB, and in 2007, from EQUIS. KUBS proved its superiority in academic curriculum in 2010 by receiving re-certification from both institutions for five years.
International certification and assessment has great significance to the students. Through these certifications, KUBS is able to exchange faculty member and students and make academic exchange agreements with world renowned Business Schools, as well as provide internship opportunities overseas. Dean Dong-One Kim said "All thanks goes to our faculty members and students; I believe that they will try and give their best to improve and become better than what they already are.
English Lecture 66.2%, best in the country
It is not so hard to find students communicating with each other in English. This is the result of our globalization plan. In 2014, 213 foreign students and 109 exchange students have applied and admitted.
Dean Dong-One Kim said, "Application rate to KUBS from both exchange students and foreign students have steadily increased. To meet the demand, we have opened of large number of English spoken lecture." As of the second semester of 2014, 66.2% of Business-related lectures are in English, and KUBS is planning to expand it to 70%.
It feels natural to speak English, because more than half of the lectures are conducted in English. Da In Kim(Business 13) said "Most of Business school’s lectures are English, and I get to do team projects with foreign students, it feels natural to speak English. Sometimes I even feel like I'm studying abroad since there are a large number of foreign students."
KUBS has signed exchange agreements with 105 universities and colleges in 32 countries around the world. In the year of 2014, a total of 165 students have studied at foreign universities through our exchange program. The total capacity of KUBS programs makes it possible to send 268 students around the world. Anyone from KUBS can enroll up to two semesters as exchange students. Also any credits earned at overseas universities count, and students pay the tuition to KU. On top of that, by inviting excellent foreign students, we have enhanced the quality of education in a truly globalized academic setting.
KUBS was the first school to operate the international internship program, and provided an opportunity for students to have fulfilling experience. Since 1994, students were able to acquire global perspective through international internships, and gain experience of foreign corporate culture. Until now, a total of 1858 people have been sent to foreign countries, working in 787 corporations through the international internship program.
The international internship program of KUBS is different from simple sightseeing and field trips. Selected students can directly experience global business by visiting the corporation’s headquarters and field sites. KUBS provides airplane tickets and living expenses for students that cannot afford the program. International internship program are led by KUBS in cooperation with Merrill Lynch, HSBC, Ernst & Young, GE, Bloomberg, OECD, UNEP, UNESCO, and many more.
