‘Accession to UN Global Compact’
Establishing principles for responsible management education that advance social responsibility
KUBS has joined the UN Global Compact, the world’s biggest voluntary, international pact that brings together businesses and the civic society.
KUBS, along with other universities taking part in the UN Global Compact, will adhere to the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME).
PRME is a management education charter established under the leadership of AACSB International (the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), the international business school accreditation body. The six principles of PRME call on business schools to actively incorporate the values of sustainability and social responsibility into their research and education. Currently, a total of 148 business schools are part of the UN Global Compact including Harvard, Wharton School, INSEAD and also KAIST Business School and Ajou University Business School.
The KUBS International Office says “PRME is being led by AACSB International (the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) and EFMD (the European Foundation for Management Development) which are regarded as the highest level of accreditation institutions. We plan to carry out various educational and research activities to develop our students into leaders who deliver sustainable values to businesses and society.”
The ‘UN Global Compact’ was officially launched in July of 2000 under the leadership of the former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan. An international voluntary agreement, the Global Compact states ten principles in the areas of human rights, labor, the environment and anti-corruption. Currently, approximately 5200 companies, educational institutions and organizations from 120 countries around the world are working as members.
