The Times of England Chose Korea University - As one of the World’s Top 200 Universities!

 

-  Social Science  World’s 66th! /  Humanities World’s 89th!

 

- Korea’s First Private University to become 184th!


 

According to the renowned daily of England, The Times' Higher Education Supplement, Korea University has been ranked at 184th. This is the first time for a private university of Korea to take place in the top 200s and is also the first time for the school itself.

 

The studies in Social Sciences was ranked at 66th; 1st in Korea, and studies in Liberal Arts at 89th; 2nd in Korea.

 

 

 

In commemoration of its centennial, Korea University has executed the ‘Global KU Project’ and equipped itself with infrastructure of global standards, full support for research and investment and globally standardized administration systems in order to bring up global talents.  

 

This seems to have contributed to the university making its way into the world’s top 200 universities.

 

 

 

Korea University is aiming to be one of the top 100 universities by 2010 and is now having positive projections that the goal would be achieved even faster as a consequence of the results.

 

The Times has ranked 2375 universities based on criteria including △scholars' evaluation on peers △number of papers cited at other universities △number of students per professor △number of foreign students △number of foreign instructors. A special consideration put into the selection this year was the preference by main companies when hiring new employees.

 

 

 

According to the results, universities from 31 countries worldwide were ranked within the top 200s. U.S.A had the most schools included with 54 universities, England came 2nd with 24 and Australia 3rd with 17. Seoul National University was ranked at 98th and KAIST at 143rd.
