KMBA, 2013 Fieldtrip in Vietnam

Korea University Business School (Director: Doo Hee Lee) Korea MBA has carried out a field trip of the fall semester of 2013. Total 75 people including the head professor of KMBA, Myeong Hyeon Cho, associated employees and students, had seminar with persons from local subsidiaries of domestic corporations and had a field trip in Vietnam from last December 21 to 25.
This KMBA Field trip has been separated into three categories: Seminar, visiting company, and visiting local historical sites. The seminar program was comprised of lectures provided by the local subsidiary managers. Taewan So, the manager of Daewon Cantavil, Insik Kwak, the branch manager of IBK Hô Chi Minh, and Junsang Lee, the president of Tong Yang Asset Management Corporation Vietnam have given lectures and spread their knowledge about the current market situation and know-how for business operation.
“With the understanding of the local companies through the seminar, students visited the Vietnam plant of Simone which is the company that manufactures the women’s purse, Lotte Mart and other local companies. Anna Choi (KMBA student) said that “I sincerely realized there is no boundary in business when I actually saw the process that American buyers order and Vietnamese employees manufacture products.”
The students also spent time touring Ho Chi Minh City by visiting Cu Chi where the Viet Cong used to hide, rubber tree forest, and etc.
The Head professor of KMBA Myeong Hyeon Cho조명현 said that “although Vietnam is growing fast, much more development is needed since the purchasing power of consumers in Vietnam is still weak. I hope this field trip would be an opportunity for students to understand the local environment and Vietnamese culture.” I hope this field trip was an opportunity for students to understand the local environment and culture of Vietnam.”
The field trip organized as a regular course of KMBA for every semester is the KMBA’s specialized program to build up the students’ global leadership. Field trip is a part of regular course of KMBA and carried out every semester. This program is designed to help building global leadership of our students. The program has been focusing on lectures of professionals, and visiting local companies in emerging markets in south-east Asia.
