KU produced the largest successful applicants at the 2010 CPA (Certified Public Accountant) exam

Reaffirm KUBS’s reputation in the accounting sector
KUBS achieved the feat of the largest successful applicants at the 2010 CPA (Certified Public Accountant) Exam. On September 2, the Financial Supervisory Service released the list of the 953 applicants who passed the 2010 CPA exam. With 130 successful applicants, Korea University took the honor of producing the largest number of CPAs. During the first three Chartered Accountant exams (currently the CPA exam) which was first conducted in 1955, all successful applicants were from KUBS. Along with the recent accomplishment, KUBS is able to maintain its reputation in the accounting sector.
Held every year, the CPA exam was established by the Financial Supervisory Service in 1967 to foster accounting professionals. As a professional expert, a CPA mainly provides accounting audit, tax-related services and business advisory. With increasing social importance of and demand for CPAs, students’ interest in the profession is also on the rise.
In line with the students’ request, KUBS is providing unsparing support to the students by strengthening accounting courses, operating ‘JungJinCho’ prep class for the CPA exam and regularly holding meetings with CPA alumni. Professor Wooseok Choi, the faculty advisor for ‘JungJinCho’ said “We are motivating the students by arranging meetings with alumni who are working in the top accounting firms as well as in different industries. Acquiring a CPA license enables students to work in a wide array of fields including not only accounting firms but also the financial, legal industries and even academia.
