CFA information and scholarship

For the first time in Korea, KUBS has joined in a partnership with the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) Institute, the world’s foremost authoritative institute.

KUBS and the CFA Institute held a signing ceremony and press meeting on August 26th at 11 am at Cuckoo Hall of LG POSCO Hall. Hasung Jang the Dean of KUBS, Ashvin Vibhakar the CFA Institute Managing Director of Asia Pacific Region, Chae-Kwang Lee President of CFA Korea Society and 10 of pressmen were among the guests present at the ceremony.

KUBS official said that KUBS was able to partner with the CFA Institute as it provided world-class curricula that emphasize the financial ethics for undergraduate and MBA programs, and it was well known for its theoretical and practical education in Korea as well. Moreover, KUBS would take this opportunity to strengthen the education on practical knowledge and ethics in finance area.

The CFA Institute selects 5 students every year and presents scholarships. 2 of KUBS students, Kyungmin Kim and Jinhyun Chun were awarded scholarships at the ceremony.

CFA is a certificate that tests one’s mastery of knowledge on investment information such as financial state and stock price of a corporate through a series of exams. 82,000 of CFA charter holders are world-widely playing as financial specialists like portfolio managers, investment banking analysts and corporate finance analysts. The number of people applying for the test is increasing every year and 8,400 of applicants in Korea took the test this year.

The CFA Institute currently has partnership with about 100 of renowned universities like Oxford University of UK, University of Southern California of US, and National University of Singapore of Singapore.

KUBS listed its name on the CFA’s new partners of this year along with New York University of US and INSEAD of France.

Ashvin Vibhakar the CFA Institute Managing Director of Asia Pacific Region said that CFA Institute would continuously provide the latest knowledge, skills for KUBS students needed to be finance specialists.
