Celebrating the 2nd Year of KUBS Startup Institute
Korea University Business School’s Startup Institute (Director Hicheon Kim) celebrated its second year since establishment. They held a celebrating event on September 5th (Wed) at ‘The Stage’, Startup Institute, KUBS Main Building.
A total of 36 KUBS faculty members attended the event to congratulate its second year. Director Hicheon Kim opened the event with his presentation on the Startup Institute’s △objective △structure △types of support △startup teams’ performance.
In particular, Director Kim highlighted the fact that “Entrance to the Startup Institute is not restricted to Korea University students. Students enrolled in universities other than KU may also be a part of the Institute.” “I am convinced that KUBS Startup Institute will form a network that consists of prospective entrepreneurs.” Director Kim also asked the faculty members that “if any of your students are interested in a startup business, please let them contact us.”
Professor Shijin Yoo, who is responsible for startup education programs at Seung Myung-Ho Center for Entrepreneurship Education, explained case studies of startup success: △Tal-ing △Hidden Track △D&I PARVIS△SOVS △B.SUNBI △Dreamary △Studio Link.
Professor Yoo added that “So far we had 17 startup teams who continue their business projects.” “Not all of the business ideas seemed viable at first. However, we witnessed them made it possible as they progress. So we would really appreciate if all of you who attended this event today could encourage and support students’ startup ideas.”
KUBS Startup Institute commenced on September 6, 2016, aiming at ‘A platform of entrepreneurship and innovation’. Prospective entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds share their ideas and collaborate for their goals at Iljin Center for Startup Incubation and Seung Myung-Ho Center for Entrepreneurship Education. The Startup Institute conducts a range of lecture series, including ‘Lecture on Demand’, and they hold a demo day event ‘Choo Choo Day’ to encourage the teams’ social networking. KUBS Startup Institute opens ‘Startup Express’ as an open admission procedure to enter the institute. So far, KUBS Startup Institute had a total of 38 startup teams.
